Since I have decided to re-train the girls to become exclusively indoor cats, I want to build them a couple of super-duper cat trees.

Anyone done this? And if so, how did you do it??

my husband built me one, all we did was buy a few thick lengths of pine, about a meter of more each. some three ply plywood from bunnings for the levels and box.

some carpet and a heap of cool little tacks with big heads so they would hold the carpet in place.

we used huge bolts and counter sank them to join the legs to the base and to join each level so it was strong.

we carpeted it first because it would be too hard to carpet once put together and it worked out fine.

if you need anymore info i can ask my husband because he did most of it lol.

Hey Fe- do you and your hubby want to come up here and give Bradley a hand with our cat tree?

He started it when we first got Cosette (7 months ago!!!) and is JUST now close to finishing it

There's no place like home
A volunteer at the Humane Society just made a HUGE cat condo out of PVC pipe. This thing is about 6 feet tall, 8 feet across and 4 feet wide with multiple perches for cats. These are a lot easier to make than ones out of wood but they can't really climb them - you just have to have perches for them to jump on.

I've made cat posts out of regular lumber and tree trunks. The trick is a large sturdy base so it doesn't tip when they fly up it and perches in high up places.
