I think I have the flu!

I feel absolutely horrible. My whole body hurts, Im coughing, congested and VERY cranky! To make matters worse, my 4yr old has it too! I couldn't for the life of me figure out how we caught it until I talked to my neighbor and her son has been sick all week. He was over here sunday playing with my kids. I asked her how long he's had it, she said since last Saturday! That made me so mad Why dont people tell you these things? I don't enjoy being sick, nor do my kids. I know when my kids are sick, I tell everyone they are off limits for visiting. Thank god for my mom. She is on her way over here now with some cold meds for us all. I know I just want to take some medicine and pass out for the night! But with the kids, it's so hard to rest. Im glad my oldest isn't sick....yet . The lil one is the hardest to deal with because he is whiney, and cranky which makes me whiney and cranky lol... Ok. Im done venting lol

There is a NASTY bug going around here in CA which I JUST HAPPENED to CATCH! I felt like crap for almost 5 weeks before it finally left me alone. The bugs out there these days are like SUPER BUGS, never as a child did I remember anything like what is going around today.

Here's hoping you get better quickly! Lot's of fluids worked for me and Vitamin C drops. Oh and I had a lot of green tea too that seemed to help.

Ciao!

I bought those vitamin C drops that Wally World sells for like .78 cents a bag. They worked wonders. I ended up having to go on Zithromax for a week because it went and found a home in my chest. NASTY!! I talked with a friend two days ago and he told me he caught it too and was out of work for almost 2 weeks. NASTY! Did I metion these bugs are NASTY!

I hope that you feel better very very soon! There are people around work getting it and I usually get sick real fast after it comes around here, so Im guessing I will be down and out with the flu around next week! Yuck, I hate the flu...I really hope that you take care of you and your son and feel better soon.

I've got it, too. One of my colleagues brought it back with her from Disney World, and she gave it to me. (Crummy souvenir if you ask me!)

Wow, if you are taking zithromax, you must have a bacterial infection and not the flu. Amtibiotics do nothing for illnesses caused by vuruses- and influenza's etiology is a virus (I mean it's caused by a virus).Maybe your GP thinks you have a bacterial respiratory infection instead. That is NASTY - hope it's not pneumonia!

I had bacterial pneumonia last year and took zith for that - it does pack a punch as an antibiotic so I hope it helps you! Drink lots of fluids (I am serious - my family always laughs when I tell them that, lol) but it is true- the fluids wash out your system! And those vitamin C lozenges will help you to stimulate mucous and most lozenges - even some of the generics like WalMart - have a tiny bit of benzocane (same stuff dentists use to numb your gums before administering a needle; it's also found in stuff like Oragel) should help yout sore throat by doing the same thing - numbing it. That's why it helps to suck on them rather than simply chewing them. Then again, the same effect of the former can be accomplished by anything you suck on like hard candy - tho that won't alleviate a sore throat. (But acetamenophen will - plus it helps your fever.)

Anyway - sorry for such a long preamnle, I just hope you feel better!!! I know how I felt with pneumonia and it was NOT at all fun!!

benzocaine Do not chew them!

The best remedy I have found for colds and sore throat:
Mix 1/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup vinegar. Take a tablespoon every two hours.
If you can stand the shock the first time, it's not too bad thereafter and it really does help.

Everytime I get sick "lately" these bugs find a home in my chest. I take the Zithromax now as a precautionary messure to AVOID getting pneumonia. That bug that was going around in 1999 caused EVERYONE that caught it to get pneumonia and the bug going around now is a LOT like that one.

I'm over the bug now and taking vitamins to keep my resistence up.

I had double pneumonia about this time last year and after getting several rounds of antibiotics that didn't completely cure it, I ended up being hospitalized for 4 1/2 days. The best precautionary measure to avoid getting pneumonia is to get a shot.

Hope everyone on this thread who is sick feels better soon!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't take the shot as I am allergic to eggs and they use eggs to culture the vaccine.
