They are just so adorable!!
Do hedgehogs give birth to live young or do they hatch?
Guess I will have to do some research.
I was just thinking that must hurt to give birth to live baby hedgehogs

Well I found the answer. They give birth to live young. Their spines are just below the skin and appear in about 24hours. Cool fact!

Aren't they the cutest?! My hubby insists I should tell everyone that they're porcupine babies. Not that I see such a big difference between all these spiky species.
We were lucky enough to see one once while out cycling. It scurried off to the undergrowth and I yelled out "Oooh look, an echidna!"

Oh they are soooooo cute!!!!

Well, you can only get Echidnas in Australia and they lay eggs as they are monotremes.

I know that with porcupines and/or hedgehogs (can't remember which) they are born with the quills but the quills are soft and only become hard after birth!!!

But they are the most gorgeous babies!!! Where did you find them? Are they pets?
