Ok,
Last night Kimmy and I were Tired. We both had long days. So we dicided to have leftovers and watch some tv. I had made some grilled asparagus the night before and there was a little bit left. So Kimmy is sitting there on the couch eating and here comes our new kitty Mojo He heads right for the asparagus! I mean forget the lamb chop that was right next to it. He wanted asparagus!!!

I have never heard of a cat eating greens! Ok I know a few dogs that like apples but a cat that likes asparagus!

Nothing but olive oil and some garlic on It

Is this OK for him to eat? I don't intend to feed it to him all the time But if it is not bad for him...hell he can have it as a treat I guess.

Do your cats like Greens?

Ditto on the no garlic. Also asparagus makes human pee smell really strong, wonder if it had the same effect on your kitty? Doesn't do any harm though.

I don't think there is an issue with asparagus (didn't find it on a list of poisonous plants), but there is with garlic. While not as much of an issue as onions, garlic is in the same family, and I would not risk feeding it to my cat. If you do a forum search on "garlic" it will bring up other threads and the links I give to my sources/articles.

Oliver LOVES fresh raw spinach. Now Tripod likes it too because he won't let Oliver eat anything without him getting some too.
Is it safe to assume that because they are indoor cats its the same as eating grass? It really is funny to watch them eat it. I have to tear it into kitty bite size pieces.

Gosh, I need my own thread on this topic: "Things Mirinae's Cat Ate."

Things my Spike has consumed (or at least nibbled on): lettuce (in preference, over a piece of chicken on the very same plate), tinfoil, chocolate, fruitcake, orange peel, a small clove of garlic, carrots, anything with almonds in it, peanut butter, strawberry jam, any kind of bread product, Honey Nut Cheerios, potato skin smothered in cream cheese, sausage, kielbasa, cheese slices, broccoli, strawberries, coffee-flavoured ice cream, coffee ... This cat has an amazing constitution!

As a note, we never "allowed" Spike to have any of this. Our previous roommates were very careless about the things they left lying around, and often this meant they left their dinner plates and groceries unattended. It didn't matter how many times Spike got into their food, or how many times I asked them to put things out of his reach -- they knew he was a little food-thief, and didn't particularly care! (Or rather, they cared, but only because their food was being munched on.) We don't live there any more, so Spike's eating habits have been curtailed. He does still try to get into the garbage, and will "beg" for food from our plates, but he doesn't get any and we keep a close eye on him when there's food out. I've never been a big fan of feeding pets from the table.
