I saw this earlier on the news, and i have to say...I almost peed myself iwas laughing sooo hard.........

That's like bombing Mickey Mouse!

I don't think it is appropriate for children to watch.

The video wasn't working for me, but from the description, I wouldn't show it at times when children would be watching. I think it's important for children to know about war and issues like that, but I would use a gentler way of bringing it up. Bringing awareness to kids is good but traumatizing them is not the best way to do this.

For adults, it's fine. I actually like the idea of the commercial. It's not a pretty picture, but neither is war and we really need to face these realities.

I'm all about shock value, but I think they should have used characters that are not well-known children icon such as Smurfs. T

hey could have made up their own, generic cartoon characters to kill off instead. I don't like seeing my beloved Smurfs being killed .

I was a bit surprised when I first seen the ad but I think it's defintely getting the point across.

they were talking about it yesterday on a radio show that i listen to....i think it is funny....but that only because my favorite site is happytreefriends.com and its all animations of cute little stuffed animals dying....its alittle twisted but funny...

I think that's the point - most people are going to react that way, so it really brings the message home to today's adults. I can't imagine the ad being shown during children's programs.

Why can't we just let kids be kids and not have to worry about the rotten side of life? They will have plenty of time to grow up and see the deplorable state of the human conditon. Let 'em be kids for Gods sake.

UNICEF is trying to let kids be kids, and not be forced to fight wars, work the fields instead of attending school, prostitute themselves in order to survive, etc.. The kids in the developing countries have just as much right to a future.
I hardly think such an ad is being shown at any time other than prime time. UNICEF obviously has to target adults to get donations, not kids. It's the people in their twenties and thirties today, and I suppose their parents, who have a sentimental attachment to the Smurfs.

Yes, I would think that this ad is aimed at an adult audience not children. It's effective I must say.

That's a fine idea but tell that to the kids who work 12 hours a day in the Nike factory making shoes that they could never afford in their lifetime or the kids who are forced to carry M-16's at age 9 or the kids who are forced to sell their bodies at a pre-pubescent age so they can support their families.
