Or both! After some shopping today, I returned home, unloaded the van, etc. Then I ran back outside to put the van in the garage. Someone PLEASE tell me how I walked RIGHT by the tailgate...the OPEN tailgate......and still proceeded to pull into the garage with the it WIDE OPEN.... argh!! Needless to say, the whole back window shattered, there is damage to the tailgate itself and the garage door frame has an interesting new look. $1400.00 later, all will look like new on the van. No estimate yet on what it will take to repair my injured pride, though!!!!

I hate when I do something that I think is "stupid", meaning I am way to smart to make such a mistake. When it is costly, it hurts that much more. Just remember, that is why they are called ACCIDENTS!

Under the cats, mostly.
Well, think, it could ahve been something worse. It could ahve been an accident involving another vehicle, on a highway, a head-on collision with a rolls royce in which it was more than just your pride that took a bashing, you could ahve had no insurance.... there are any number of scenarios. You're ok, if a little mad - and that's the important bit.

In fact only yesterday I did something stupid too. I went out to the shop to go buy chocolate and something to drink - it's literally only 100 yards away... got back home to discover I'd locked my keys in the flat. Rune was out of the city, so I eventually had to go travel out to my SIL to get a spare set of keys
You're not the only one who can do something daft from time to time

Thanks, everyone.
Although that pride of mine still feels a little bruised this morning, you all got a few smiles out of me, anyway. I appreciate the support.

I've done stupid things too. It's worse when you actually have to admit what you did, and can't just cover up by yourself.

but this
My advice: do like cats, and act like you meant to do that!
cracks me up. Last night, Sam was lying at the top of the stairs. I went to see what he was up to, and he rolled on his back, miscalculated, and rolled down to the top step. He looked a bit surprised, but just for an instant, then settled down on that step, looking at me like, what are you looking at? I meant to do that!

heheheh yeah! Tosca catapulted herself off the windowsill this morning - she jumped on the sill and up and down to the top of the window trying to catch a bug (that was outside), but she miscalculated a landing and plonked onto a DVD case that was on the sill and promptly upended, catapulting her a good 5 feet sideways onto our bed - and right into the middle of Rune's stomach
She stood looking surprised for a good 10 seconds or so and then settled down, flicked her ears to say "I meant to do that" and then carried on with her "feed me" miaow!

Scamper Farms - I'm sorry, but I had to LOL at that!
I had a mental picture of Vixen looking sideways at you, swooshing her tail, then rolling her eyes!

Sunnicat, I'm sorry I don't have a remedy for bruised pride. Maybe a good snuggle with a warm cat? Always helps me!

One time, I was cleaning out the back of my 4Runner in the garage. Went to back up the car, heard this horrible metal on metal noise, stopped the car, and realized I hadn't closed the back!! Lucky me, there was no damage. So you're not the only one that'd done it.
At least it was the van that got damaged, and not you!
