So John and I left this morning for work at 7:45, as usual. We get home at about 1:00 today for lunch break and I called Harley cuz he usually comes to meet us at the door, but he didn't come running but I could hear him meowing constantly as he heard out voice. He usually comes out of our bedroom where he is usually found sleeping on our bed, but he wasnt there. I opened the closet door, and there he was!
We usually always keep our closet doors open (they are the big closets with the 2 sliding doors) anyways, for some reason John must have shut his this morning and Harley must have slipped in there before he shut it! I feel soooo bad! So for a treat (for being stuck in a closet for 5 hours!) I made him up a little chicken breast for lunch and he loved me and was purring like crazy. I felt like he deserved a little treat for being stuck in there....I still feel horrible for having him locked up in a closet all morning...poor guy!!

I've done that a million times when I had 3 cats, one time I locked one up in the closet with the washer/dryer so I couldn't figure out where the meows were coming from. I thought they had gotten into the wall somehow. I feel like such a bad cat mommy- they got over it.

I accidently locked Dori inside the walk-in-closet when we lived in the apartment. I came home and started looking everywhere for her and calling her name since she didn't greet me at the door. I opened the closet door and found her sleeping on a sweater that was folded on the shelf. She looked so sweet and content, but she ovbiously hadn't been so happy the entire time because she ripped up all the carpeting under the door trying to escape

Festie has been locked in the coat closet for 8 hours. It is about 3 ft by 5 ft, and stuffed full of coats and boots. She was locked in my bedroom for 48 hours. The room is big, but there was no food or litterbox, and she must have drank out of the pottie!

She is such a sneaky girl! We try our best to be good to her, and she enjoys her little adventures, but it cannot have been good for her to spend 2 days alone without food! And I never found any messes, so don't know where she pottied, unless it was in a utility closet.

Maybe brown tiger kitties are just more adventurous?!? She never seems upset by her times alone, but it really makes me feel bad!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has locked a kitty in a closet on accident! I felt so bad I wanted to cry...his little meows were soo pitiful. You shoulda seen the look on his face when I opened up that door! Good thing it was John's closet and not mine-all of his clothes were off the hangers and everything...we didn't have time to check to see if he went potty in his closet, I'll make John do that after work!
I bet he'll steer clear from the closets now! Unless he thinks he can get chicken again, haha, sneaky!

I tried to butter him up as much as I could before I left him again for work...he was purring like crazy when we were cuddling so I think he forgave me!

I think we may all be guilty of locking our kits in the closet at one time or another...I know I've done it to my two a few times
They always seem to forgive me fast enough, as soon as I pull out their treats that is..

Yup.
Guilty also. Although fortunately it was only for a half an hour or so. We've finally gotten in the habit of not closing any door that's been opened unless we can account for both cats.

Scooter is constantly getting himself locked in closets, the laundry room, cabinets. He cries when he is ready to be let out, and I go find him. He doesn't even expect treats any more. He sneaked outside yesterday, and was frightened by the motorcycle cranking on the carport. I heard him crying and pounding on th door, but I thought he was in the coat closet. He was plastered against the screen door, eyes as big as saucers, scared silly. He got a good cuddle from me, and a bath from Pepper. He hasn't tried to sneak out any today.

Cassie used to SLEEP in my closet (it was a sliding door fashion and she could figure out how to open it up)!

Oh, yes, I think most cat owners have had a similar incident with trapping cats in a closet -- they're so sly and can sneak in a space so quickly without me noticing it! That's why I've learned to do a head count before I leave for work.

I love the new Baby Harley signature, too. He is so ADORABLE!

You know, I wonder if my cats would enjoy chicken breast. Does it have to be hot off the grill or raw? Mine are SOOOOO picky about their food. The only wet food they will eat is California Natural Deep Water Fish. Well, they will eat some of the Fancy Feasts but I feel like that's giving them the equivalent of McDonalds so it rarely happens.

I just cook it for him on the George Foreman grill that I have and then peel off the areas where its rough or hard to eat (you know from the grill and such) then I let it cool so its not so hot, but still warm, he looooves it, but wont touch it when its cold or about room temperature, talk about picky!!
