Help new kitty pooh and pee ahhhh!!!

Hello,
Here is my problem, I got this kitty about three weeks ago. He was going fine in the litter box, until I realized that he had only been pooping not peeing. Next thing I know he is pooping outside the litter box as well. He goes in and out? My friend suggested that I put him in the bathroom with his litter box and food and water for a day. He did go only n the box. I thought well cool this worked, but as soon as I put his litter box back he started going in and out of the box? So I thought well maybe one day was not enough, so I did it for about a week, and here I am same problem. The only way he will go in the box is if i keep him in the bathroom and that is not fair to him he is a kitten and my bathroom is too small to function with food and box and kitten in. please help.
I dont want him to live in my tiny bathroom.

Hey Candice....your little kitten is just a baby. The reason he can use it ok in such a small space is because he doesn't have to travel far to get to it. Asking a kitten to "know" when he needs to go pee or poop is like asking a baby to make it to the bathroom when he is playing in the living room. Best thing to do is to buy a bunch of disposible aluminum trays and place them in the spots where your kitten has been going with litter in them. Hopefully giving him PLENTY of litterbox options will reduce the accidents.

How young is your little kitten? If he/she is really young, this might work to train it. This worked for me when I was raising some kittens that were orphaned...and I managed to get them all litter box trained that way. Get yourself an old towel, cut it into little pieces...then wrap a piece around your finger, dip towel wrapped finger in lukewarm water, then wipe your kitten's rear end from front to back (to prevent spreading feces to the urinary tract). The towel dipped in warm water simulate a momma cat's tongue and that is how they train their little ones to use the restroom. Also, young kittens get intimidated by a big cat box filled with lots of cat litter. Like the previous poster suggested, get those disposable aluminum pan thingies and put litter in that. Do the tongue thing I suggested and then set the little one in the pan. When he/she goes pee or poop in the box, praise it and give it some love.

Hello, Candice! Welcome to the club, dear.... Matilde, my four week old kit was adopted by us when she was a week old. Momma left her behind, we have no idea why.... Anyway.... Mati is already eating solids and going to the litter box. In the mornings, when she emerges from her beauty sleep, I take her to the litter box myself and she does her business. And I do the same after meals. She has never done anything outside of the box and maybe I am raising a lazy princess, but it works. Babies need a lot of help. This is the first time I have such a small kitty and it is like having a human baby.
