Welcome to New York...

So um when does this Frontline liquid drop stuff take effect? When should the fleas start dropping off. There are not many fleas on their body. You wont see one unless you start looking in every part of their body. There are no more near the neck where they used to be. But I saw one yesterday near the stomach.
They gave me Frontline Plus, its a liquid thing that the vet dripped on their back near their head.

I used frontline on friday (we are getting ready to have kittens and fleas MAY have killed the last litter so I want them gone FIRST) and it already has started working. Well enough even that we went for a ride with kitties, and bombed the house instead of waiting a week like we'd planned.... worked for us within 24 hours but I guess it depends on the infestation and if the fleas have any sort of insecticide immunity (but I never heard of Frontline NOT working)

The fleas are mostly gone, about really only like 5 of them remain on thier bodies and its hard to locate them.

There should be a warantee for this.

Living creatures do not come with warranties. They are as prone to illness and injury as you are. When they get sick or hurt, they need medical care. Medical care is expensive. There isn't any way around it.

Honestly, if you are not willing to spend money on your cats' care then having cats might not be for you. If your bank account is really more important to you than their welfare, that's not going to be a good situation for your cats.

I think its the way you are presenting it that is peeving some people...instead of showing joy that your cat is alright, you have continued to complain about the money....

The money is spent...gone...youre not getting it back.....just take this time to enjoy the wonders of a healthy kitten

It was a joke... obviously.
Its not like I write a whole paragraph about it.
Nonetheless, i'm just saying that it was reluctant for me and my family because the kittens are our first pets. My mom has never had any pets and neither have I.
Obviously 200$ for a checkup, two shots and a bath will be a wee bit extreme for us.
Another thing you guys don't understand is that I dont make the monetary choices; my parents do. So if it is hard for THEM to spend 200$ on the cats it will obviously affect me a little too.

Exactly.

With that much paid I better not see anotherflea for the next 3 years.

That is obviously a joke. I was just blowing off steam.

wow, these are some steep Vet Fees !

I took my kitten to the Vet for Fleas. I had him for 2 days, but he was infested. Here in the UK, you register your kitten with the Vet, get a free Kitten Pack (a little like the baby packs in hospital when you have a baby), which contains free flea treatment, a food bowl and lots of Vouchers for food and litter. The flea treatment and de-wormer (all kittens are born with worms), first check-up was alltogether £18. Vaccinations were a bit steep at £30 for the first shot and another £40 for the second lot in 2-3 weeks, but nowhere near US prices. A general check-up cost £20, so I have no worries taking my cat to the vet whenever he needs it. I think thats much better. This way people will bring their pets whenever they don't look too well. And the vet makes plenty of money by seeing plenty of pets per day.

I also think your vet was pretty steep, Maybe Kansas vets are more down to earth, but I took a kitten in on an emergency visit, it had fluids under the skin (no real flea treatment it was only 2 weeks old, but they said the baths were helping, cause fleas were dying), a antibiotic, and KMR, and it cost me under 100 dollars. I know there are vets around here that are costly too, but you really should ask friends and family if they know a good, less expensive vet. Ours is wonderful and (pardon my language) CHEAP~!

Ok, I thought I was losing my mind.

Some of you people don't know what happens on in thirld world countries.
People don't care, they take the canned dog food the U.S. sends to them and eat it themselves. The dogs end up on the roads - feral.
You go to any other non-American country and tell them 200$ for cet medications, they'll laugh at you and tell you to get bent.

Well, chalk it up to lack of research, next time call around-- don't just take the biggest most expensive ad in the phonebook (they pay for that with their money they charge for care...) Now that your kitty is healthy, would be a good time to visit other vet's offices and talk to the assistants get price estimates, and compare who you like best and how much they charge... then the next time you won't be so shocked at the price...

Well what do your parents expect you to do with them? If you know a good home where they won't quake at the thought of a vet fee, it might be better for everyone... plus I'm sure anyone who took them in would be more than willing to let you visit the kitties. However if they expect you to dump them or something, you need to have a major heart to heart with them (probably do anyway from the sound of it) Can't offer you advice on your parents, but I would start looking for a good home just in case it turns out you don't have a choice in the matter.

They want to give it to an old lady or someone who has time to take care for it.
I feel like I cant even do anything about it. I feed them, I clean after them, and I play with them. My mom says they'll get too big and will do mischevious things and scratch furniture and hang off the drapes.

Not if you take the time to teach them right from wrong err. rather what they are and aren't allowed to do. My cat won't even touch a plate full of food if you leave your dinner and go in the other room. My kitten will though! lol she isn't trained at all yet (but never poops on the floor)... I don't know what to tell you except talk to them and tell them how strongly you feel, and maybe put in a word about how much responsibility you are learning..... I'm sorry things are going so tough....
