Just after work today, we were standing out front smoking & I noticed something hiding among the leaves of a small spider plant I have in the ground..a little grey mouse.
He is obviously injured, he is very wobbly when he moves around, he doesn't try to escape when we get near. I put a couple nibbles of cat food out for him, feeling sorry for him, but I am wondering if we should end his suffering. Or should I catch him & release him away from the apartment?
We talked to the neighbor girl about him, she has a snake, but she won't let the snake eat anything but white mice, they are considered sterile. Her boyfriend will be home soon, I'm sure she will tell him, & he will be asking about the mouse, as he is the only one so far who is brave enough to end it's misery. She said he will probably put it in a plastic bag & put it in the trash, or crush his head somehow..I can't stand the thought of it. If it is left up to me, I will have to use water.
I'm torn up inside over this, I know he is a mouse, but what should I do?

Please end its life quickly and painlessly. That whole head crushing thing does not sound nice.

Faster than drowning or suffocating in a plastic bag.
If it is a wild mouse you could try a wildlife group. Even if they can't fix it they probably have access to humane euthanasia. If it appears to be a pet mouse you could try the SPCA.

Mouse or not.. its still a life =(

Humanely euthanizing a mouse or rat is extremely painful for it... because their veins are so small they they have to go directly into the heart.
