I "adopted" a feral kitten a few weeks ago. (Close to 3, I think). She should be about 11 weeks old. I have her tamed (mostly). She will come to me and she doesn't hiss, spit, bite or claw. She uses her litter box and loves to play with me and my other cat. My only complaint (minor, really) is that Cosmo won't let me hold her and pet her. She consistantly struggles and I have to force her to stay in my lap. Unless I'm trimming her nails, I just usually put her back down. I don't want to force her to be petted, but I would like to have her enjoy a little affection and petting some times. Any suggestions?

Hi "Cosmo"

I would just say...and you probably don't want to hear this...that Cosmo Kitty probably isn't a "lap cat." She will come to you when she wants affection. My Cassie is the same way. One day I could just be sitting on the couch, she'll come to me and snuggle and purr. Most days, if I go to pick her up, she doesn't want anything to come of it!

It's just her nature. Definitely don't force her to become a lap cat.
