OK, it's now or never.

Jane is going in for exploritory surgery (for very cheap). If it is something easy they will take care of it, if it is something bad that will trouble her for the rest of her life, she will be put to sleep.

I know this is the right thing. It's just Very Hard to deal with on an emotional level.

I just keep telling myself that she will be OK.

I think we will know for sure by the end of the day. I will update.

to you. Stay strong, and keep the faith. It sounds like little Jane is in the best hands she could possibly be in. She is being kept very close to my heart, with the best hopes possibles for her, and love flowing right to her...

SHE MADE IT THROUGH SURGERY

BUT

Here is the appalling thing.

She was totally, absolutely, 100% OK BEFORE she went to get spayed 2 weeks ago.

They actually stitched through her intestine when finishing up her spay.

It upsets me so much that she would have been fine if not for this.

BUT, rather than spend time being angry, I STILL need to think good thoughts (and appreciate any sent my way) because the next 48 hours are critical. She is so small and malnourished from all this that she could still not recover from the surgery.

I do feel strongly that she has a good chance now.

I'm going to go visit her now.

am glad she made it through surgery, and such a shame this is something that was caused by the vet, although he has been good in regards to treating it for you. Fingers crossed that she will make it through the next 48 hours, I would ask the vet for Hills a/d when she comes home, it is a convalescing food and should help her put some much needed weight back on.

Whoops! Let me clarify.

The spay was NOT done by this vet who has been treating her. It was done by a local, low-cost, assembly line style spay/nueter place. I don't hate them or anything, but they WILL be informed of this.

Thanks for the heads up on the food!

Appalling is right!!! OMG! I assume the vet is going to make this right? I know she is fragile, but I'll bet she'll turn up ok. Still praying!

(BTW, my cat was fine before going in to be neutered last week, and has come up with a horrible infection. We think of his mouth, but the vet "couldn't figure it out", just that he had a 105 temp. Grr.)

Sorry, that is what happens when you pick up stories half way through. Did think that it was odd for such a nice vet to make such a mistake. Am glad that you are going to inform the vet who did the original spay though.

Yeah, the woman who trapped them originally is
. I think I will leave her to deal with it.

I don't think I mentioned it previously that she was spayed elsewhere, I didn't want to point any fingers, but now I can confidently point a finger...

YAY for sweet little Jane to have come through the surgery!! Sending lots and lots of healthy vibes and love to her. She's such a precious little girl.

I have to admit, there haven't been many times when my jaw literally dropped, but reading what they found was one of those times. Appalling is an understatement! Low cost should not mean low quality.

I had to feed my cat that had the intestinal obstruction only baby food for a while, but they actually took a portion of the intestine out and sewed it back together, so I don't know if this applies. But they do really like it - it's Gerber #2 meats. That's what I'm feeding Smudge right now, since he can't (won't) chew anything. Give our love to Jane!

That's very disheartening that her probs were caused by a vet!

Here's lots of good vibes to wee Jane
At least now you've figured out what the problem was and she can start healing.

So glad to hear she made it through, but shocked and angry to hear the cause! I hope SOMEONE gives the vet that did the spay an earful! I will continue to pray that Jane recovers completely and that you can relax a bit. Hugs.

The vet who did that to Jane should pay all of her bills at her current vets.

I am so glad that you are there for sweet Jane.
She is in my prayers for a full recovery.

Thank you so much for caring.

Thank you to everyone SO MUCH for all the vibes. It really helps to know people care.

Just back from my visit!

She is SO frail (she's down to almost 2 pounds) and was still TOTALLY zonked from the surgery. She was all wrapped up and on a heating pad, blinking at me. I kept getting mixed signals from the Vet Techs, one was like "we'll see" and the other was like "she seems to be doing great!"

So, like I said, I am hopeful, and I know she is a little fighter. I sat with her for a little and talked to her.

I will keep with the updates, but for now it's time to try and relax and focus on the others! My permanent kitties, Sylvester and Annie, inform me that they are Quite Hungry and would I Please Stop Typing on the Computer and Pay Attention to Them.

I just don't know how y'all foster these kitties, nurse them through such difficult situations, and still let them go to adoption. I would have such a household of kitties! Foster Moms are my heros.
