This Saturday is Sweetest Day. I know there's some 'real' history about this holiday, but sometimes the fact there's another "Valentine's Day" makes me ill.

How do you guys feel about Sweetest Day?

Is it just another Hallmark-created holiday so you can go blow a bunch of money on your sweetie, and get a bunch of flowers in return (flowers die anyway... not sure of the use of them)...

Or is it a "Legit" holiday?

Do you guys & gals here in the USA celebrate it, or just ignore it?

(Last year, my Sweetest Day was the best ever. I took in Snickers & Dusty and spent the whole day in my jammies snuggling with them!
)

Would like to know of those of you who are married / coupled what you're planning on doing. If you're single, are you gonna spoil yourself???

It's on my WALGREENS calendar. Walgreens sells Hallmark cards.

Rumor had it that Hallmark created it to generate more sales of their sappy cards.

Then I heard, no, it was a legit holiday; somewhere somehow years ago someone did something wonderful and created this holiday... not near as sappy as St. Valentine but it was enough to warrant people buying cards & sending flowers!

Yeah I will use it to snuggle & stuff, but I surely ain't buyin no cards.

I've heard of it but never knew when it was. Never done anything for it. This year I'll be leaving on a cruise with my best friend who has definitely treated me better than my ex-boyfriend did so I guess I couldn't ask for a better Sweetest Day.

Someone I was seeing a few years ago gave me flowers for Sweetest Day and up until then I had never heard of it. I also hate getting flowers alone--flowers aren't a gift, they're garnish. Well, unless they're ones you plant.
