We have a wonderful recently adopted (from a good home) 2 year old neutered declawed male Manx. The original folks could not stop hom from being aggressive with their dog. We want to leave him with my son's family when we travel, but on the first visit he was aggressive with their female (clawed and normally assertive) year old cat. Any suggestions? I hate to leave him home alone, although I do have a woman who can come in 2x a day to feed and play. Thanks, Sheila

Cats are not people. You cannot just introduce them to another feline, and say, "Ok, now get along!" It doesn't happen.

Cats are driven by scent- and when a new scent enters their domain, that scent is a danger. They go on the defensive, you have growling, hissing and sometimes bloodshed. You would need to separate the two cats for however long it takes for them to learn to get along.

This article will give you some ideas as to what to try:

Introducing Cats

Even if it is just a brief meeting, it still needs to be handled with caution. Especially because your Manx cannot protect himself except to bite.

If I were you, I would hire a petsitter to come in and take care of your cat and leave him alone in his own environment- less stress and less chance of him becoming ill
