Well, i'm new here but i have a serious question. I just bought a kitten this past weekend and I have just recently noticed that he is drooling. I'm worried because I don't think it is normal. Also he has a dark crust around his nose and his tongue is sticking out a bit. He is only 8 weeks old so i'm not sure what could be wrong with him. I have another cat and this never happend to her. Is there something wrong with him? Help is desperately needed.
Thank You

I second the recommendation to have him looked over by a vet.

Since he is such a young one, I would probably phone the vet's office tonight. I am certain they have someone to handle emergency calls.

He should be ok. Just make sure he has food and water, and gently with a cotton ball soaked in warm water, dab at his nose to try to get the crusty stuff off. Don't wipe, as you may rip the skin accidentally - So just gentle dabbing like you would on a graze of a human!

And just try to wipe the dribble off when you see it.

Good luck! Let us know how it all goes.

When I got my new kitten, he started drooling due to the upper respiratory infection that he was developing. Did you get your kitten from a shelter?

No, I got it from a ruffin's pet store.

I too would suggest you have him seen as soon as possible. If there is an emergency weekend vet clinic in your area, I would recommend you take him there as soon as possible.

Yes, please take your kitty to the vet as soon as possible. Pet shops can be some of the worse places to get a cat from.

Pet shops carry viruses and stuff like that. While reading your post, I noticed that your cat drools? My cat does too. He drools when he is happy.

My youngest kitty is a drooler, too, so that's not abnormal. However, the crusty stuff sounds like something you need to have looked at. Did you have the cat checked over by a vet yet?
