I discovered as of late that my kitty has a bad habit of stepping on her poop while burying it. So this time while she pooped in my presence I immediately scooped it out before she could even start burying it....and then scrambling along the sand she was like "hey, where did my poop vanish??" and suddenly i got a guilt pang. But its just so convinient and so much cleaner. Anyway I guess I should resort back to the small bathing session after the poopy time?

I've scooped before they had a chance to bury it before now too, I'd also be interested to know if anyone thinks this may be a problem

How old is your kitty? Young cats often are "sloppy" with their cover-ups, but as they mature they get better at it. The only concern I'd have is if this is the case, and you scoop the poop, your kitty won't get the chance to improve with practice.

Poopus Scoopus Interuptus.

I've wondered the same thing. Sometimes I scoop before they finish covering their "package."
I don't want to make them neurotic. Where did it go.

Probably the best thing to do is help them cover it up - Put them in the right position after they have finished and then use their paws to cover it up correctly.

My little guy had this problem when he was little but he soon learned to scrape in the right place!!

I've been having a similar problem with Seamus lately. He keeps stepping in the wet litter before it has a chance to clump so it has the effect of putting his paws into wet cement. Then it gets stuck to him and he makes a mess trying to get the stuff out of his paws and little clumps go flying everywhere. To be honest, I think he's just inexperienced in litter box etiquette
. He was picked up as a stray outside so who knows if he had ever been exposed to using a litter pan till he got to the shelter. I'm hoping he'll get the hang of it before long! LOL
