That is kind of a cool idea....

but a little gross to I guess.

Well it sure is interesting.....

There was a thread on this awhile back. I think it is cool. We are eventually going to run out of places to bury people, and I think it would be a wonderul way to keep the family history going. You can have a microscopic message engraved on the stones, like who it was and when they lived.

Uh...yeah, ok.

"gee, look how mom sparkles when the sun hits her just right"

I don't think so......

LOL Kai!!

My friend and i were just talking about this and we were like "well since our husbands will never buy us a big diamond we'll just turn them into one some day.... just to spite them"

I have visions of turning into a diamond only to be lost by someone - I mean I have my grandparents' wedding ring and I am terrified to loose it!! Then again, that might be better than someone's ashes being vacuumed by accident - I know someone who did this to their uncle, by mistake!! Oh my!!!!

they vacuumed his ashes!! Oh on, worse than "Meet the Parents"!
I love this idea! The ultimate in reclycling! And you know, I do have such a sparkling personality, so this seems appropiate..

Interesting....but no thank you...a bit too wierd for me! (Of course traditional funerals are too wierd for me too)... I have no desire to look at my family and friends bodies after they are dead...nor do I want them to see mine either. I prefer to remember people the way there when they were alive.
I want to be creamated and sprinkled in the woods. (I`d rather be sprinkled in my flower bed...but guess no one would want to "work the garden" after that.) I don`t want to be a diamond, nor do I want to be ashes on anyones mantal.Just my opinion of course...and I know many others feel differently...and that`s OK too.

I love my mother's plans personally.

She wants to be posed in a chair with a drink her her hand for her wake.
Afterwards, she wants to be cremated and her ashes turned into a doorstop.
My brother vetoed that idea, he says mom or not, I stub my toe and you'll be out in the backyard.

That`s funny!

Oh no way! I could never! It's would be sooo creepy feeling!

So immagine your standing in line at the grocery store and you compliment someone on thier lovely ring and they reply 'Oh thanks! It was my grandmother!' So you reply 'oh it was your grandmother's?' To wich they reply 'No, the diamond WAS my grandmother!'

Those are good, My first hubby trained Thoroughbred Race Horses, and he said he wanted to be buried in jeans and a tee shirt with his glasses in his pocket, a winning ticket in there to and a racing form,10 years ago we did that all except the jeans and tee shirt, couldn't do that part

I wanted to go up in fireworks, but my daughter refuses to do it for me. She says she doesn't like the thought of someone's ashes floating randomly back to earth.

I've been planning for years to have this done w/my mom. (Well, I have to be prepared! Everyone dies someday.) I just think it's a beautiful way to carry her around with me forever, and to symbolize how beautiful, precious and brilliant her life was! I want to get it in a band engraved with: "You are my sunshine" because she used to always sing that song to me when I was a child. Yellow diamond for that and because her birthday is in November.

I love this idea! I want to be a blue diamond! I want to be cremated anyway...who wants to stay ashes when they can be a diamond!
I think it's quite a good idea although I shan't be turning myself into one when I'm dead and gone.

Reading all these posts has prompted me to remind you all: if you have a specific wish for your funeral arrangements, please please put it in your will. If you haven't made a will, do so!

To each his own... My Mom said that when her time comes, she may want to be shot out of a bottle rocket!

We buried my mom's fiance in jeans, a flannel shirt, and a cap. Nobody ever saw him dressed any other way in life, so why do anything different in death? Just about everyone expressed that they were glad he was dressed like that....except one guy who said that if you aren't buried in a suit, you go to hell....ummmmmm.ok. Don't know what that has to do with ANYTHING but that's what he said.
Personally, I don't want people coming around staring at me after I die, and I want to be cremated. The ground is COLD and I don't like being cold!

I can relate to that. My best friend's mom died when we'd just started college. My mom accompanied me to the viewing, and had to calm me down, because the body I viewed was nothing like Mrs.G. when she was alive. It was really appalling, and J., my best friend, still talks about how bad it was. My husband, mother, sister, nieces and nephews already have their "orders": cremation, no viewing/funeral, and dispose of my ashes wherever they think best, but preferably in the backyard, near the Atlantic, or in the Appalachians.
