These are quotes from these members.
I need to answer them FAST to get them not to do this.

I can't keep them from licking but the baby shampoo doesn't have a
good taste and it is Non-toxic. My 2 kitties didn't lick until I
rinsed them. It won't sting their eyes so you can get it on their faces.

AND THIS ONE TOO>

Dawn dishsoap works... just make sure you rinse well.
We use to use it on our cats and it does a good job

Dawn dishwashing soap is what I use- just a small amount. it does not kill fleas, it stuns them. Then I flea comb the stunned fleas and drop them in hot soapy water in a jar and then cap the jar and throw it away.

Bad idea to put shampoo thick on a dry coat. It will dry the coat out big time, and leave skin problems behind. Even baby shampoo used incorrectly like that would be an irritant.

You might tell these forum members that since animal testing is no longer something routinely done, many products safe for us, will hurt, maim or kill your cat or dog.

Well, that doesn't sound like a good idea to me!

I do know that soap does prohibit fleas from being able to swim in water so they will drown, but I don't think marinating a delicate kitten in shampoo for 10 minutes is a good idea!!

I also know that one of the biggest dangers with kittens is for them to get a chill, so it is not advisable to bathe especially a young kitten. If they do bathe a kitten, they absolutely MUST ensure that the kitten stays warm until s/he is completely dried off, or they risk serious illnesses.

My question is, why can't they take this flea infested kitten to a vet to see what a VET recommends???

(I'll move this to Care & Grooming)

I thought Hissy's reply was great...just curious, what kind of response were you looking for? You can trust Hissy's advice...

I realize this is probably a stupid question, but I've heard this tip before, and wanted to use it at the shelter, but wondered if it mattered what type of Dawn was used. There are so many different scents, "antibacterial", "ultra", etc., that I worried about buying the wrong kind, and perhaps causing more harm than good.

Use the Dawn original, before it went antibacterial-
