about a week ago i noticed there was a large slice out of my cats lip. it was clean with no blood or sign of infection so i thought i'd leave it a few days before i went to the vets . he is in no pain and it doesn't seem to bother him at all, i presumed it was from a can or something similar. are there any other possibilities i should be looking out for and is a vets trip necessary as a precaution as that would be another 50 quid. but if he needs it he'll have to go.

I guess that it would depend on the deepness of the cut, and if you can keep it clean.....

Its hard when it is on the mouth, since the mouth is like a "night club" of all kinds of bacteria and such.....

Maybe you could call your vet and see what they suggest for at least closing the wound...such as those glue substabce sutures.....

Other then that keep is clean ALWAYS, and any dicoloration, or pus.....you need to bring him to the vet.....
