If you get a person from another country, once they receive the package it won't be a secret, correct? Don't you have to declare all of your info on the customs form? Any way around this?

Karen,

No, you are right. You have to put the contents down. I think the majority of us, would like it to remain a surprise and just have to promise not to peek at the declarations sticker

I was secret santa for someone from another country, and on the contents list for customs I simply put "toiletries". Okay, so not everything in the box was within that category, but that way it kept it a secret! Everything turned out just fine!!!

Ok, I have a question too. Are we supossed to keep our identities secret forever or do we tell who we are on the gift tag?

I'm confused about that too. How do we keep out ID's secret when we must put return addresses on the package? And the card question too.

Could you lay out the guidelines for us. Thanks....this is really fun.

What i did with mine last year was to put a christmas card in and give a couple of hints.

The card i sent was a little tortie kitten with a black smudge on it's nose and the clue was that the picture of the kitten was similar to one of my cats(Rosie).

I think it's fun to keep 'em guessing. We had fun with that last year. My person never did guess me, but I had fun watching her post trying to guess

Did you ever tell your person that you were her SS?

If we have a person in another country, how do we handle the return address issue, so that they cannot identify their SS?

That was my original question in the thread. You can't get around it. You have to do the return address on the package as well as fill out a customs declaration form.

If you have someone in a different country, it won't be a "secret" santa.

Note to my person...don't look at the return address, the contents...just don't look at the package at all.

Oh well...it will still be fun.

I had an overseas person last year, and while I know the parcel arrived, I never had the impression that she had figured out who sent it. I put as little as I could get away with on the outside, but your hands are tied to a certain extent.

My Secret Santa, on the other hand, was also sending from overseas, and found a wonderfully confusing circuitous route by which to send it. It took some figuring, but I did finally figure it out. That was fun.
