...O.K, so Rune has travelled south into Jutland with his choir for the weekend and won't be back until silly o'clock on Sunday night (it's a five hour journey) so I have the whole weekend to myself! oohoo! So, I was wondering what suggestions people could come up with for some serious pampering - but I'd also like some ideas for a nice surprise for Rune when he gets home. Something that'll make him feel really special. I dunno, something that he can come in and find (preferably without waking me up!).... any ideas?

Lucky girl! Do things you normally wouldn't do with him around! Be silly, be relaxed.
I would say for his homecoming to have the place spotless & a nice dinner, some cozy candles, but if you're sleeping when he gets home-tough one!

Watch some girlie movies that he probably wouldn't like.

Get a new kitten! (Just kidding!
)

For something for him when he returns, how about baking a nice treat - cookie or a cake or something - and leave him a note on the door to check the (table, refrigerator).

Get a really good book, a bottle of wine (if you like wine) a scented candle and run a bubble bath.

That's what I do when I have time alone. I second the "girlie movie" thing too. I do that a lot when I have a couple of hours to myself.

For me, just cleaning the house, catching up on all the laundry and cleaning the bathroom and litter boxes is a nice way to suprise my guy. He usually does more around here than me, and what better way to come home than to a clean house?

I also type him "letters" every now and then to let him know I love and appreciate him. They don't cost anything, but mean a lot.

Depending on what type of guy he is, would he like you to buy him flowers and write a letter to him? That would be a nice thing to come home to.

What about buying a new dvd he would enjoy, a box of microwave popcorn and his favorite beverage? Leave it on the counter with a note.

That's about all I can think of right now

thanks for the ideas guys - I really like the idea of making something for him - something that comes from me. I always find stuff that's bought so easy and I just want to do something that shows how much he really does mean. He's not a flower person - hells bells neither am I, I can't keep them alive for one afternoon - and he's got a heap of beer in the fridge already. I also suspect that when he comes home, beer is going to be the last thing on his mind after this weekend!
I did think about it last night and I wonder if there are little things in the house I can find to stick into some sort of make-shift "album" of things that make me happy... I think I'll have to work on that one..... he's also really fussy about "gifts". He doesn't like things he can't use. He's the kind of guy who really enjoys getting underwear and razors at Christmas!
Men!

Love the ideas though, so I'll hve a ponder and see what I can come up with. I'll let you know how it goes!

At the kitty's beck and call
When hubby goes away, I make his favourite thing when he gets back. It's really simple, but something he enjoys - a tray of spiced peanuts (plus the house smells lovely too). It doesn't have to be much to welcome your loved one back home.

You could sleep late, stay in you pj's all day, and snuggle up with a kitty and a good book! I agree, your hubby's favorite baked item would be perfect to surprise him when he returns home! Have fun!

That sounds good, but don't forget the sexy lingerie!

For yourself, go for one or two hours of back massage or something and maybe some of what Susan calls "retail therapy"!
I can't really think of any other suggestions at the moment.

What if I was planning on skipping the lingerie altogether? Does that count? :p I've been out on a little retail therapy... but so far all I've come home with is a new bottle of shampoo (I'm usually much better at retail than that) and I'm still wondering what to do for Sunday. From the sounds of things, I'm going to need to make a hangover cure!

Yeah, that will probably get the same number of points. Make sure that hangover is gone first. You don't want to have a headache.

I wasn't talking about MY hangover!! I don't really drink at all these days! I have one glass or two of something and want to go to sleep (I'm a cheap date, me)
