Hello,

I have two kittens. both about 12 to 14 wks old. I have heard some good stories and some bad about toilet training.

What do you think about it? Is it easy or hard?

Do the training kits that I see online work? What kit is the best to use.

Are you talking about training to use human toilets? There is one lady on here that is having some success (with the odd fall-back) with this.

I'm not sure I agree with it completely - after all they are cats and not human babies - but each to their own as they say and as long as the cats are not punished for their accidents, I say bon chance!

I personally couldn't do that. I mean imagine coming home after the cats have been going in the toilet all day long without flushing. EWWWW!!!

Yes, but it wouldn't smell as bad as litter can and I believe that's why the other person was trying to train her kitties.

Usva often uses the toilet though I haven't trained her to do that in any way.
I do however think it might be a bit dangerous, especially to kittens, since the cat could always fall in. Not sure really, how I feel about it.

I was not planning to start training for sometime and I have heard of people training to flush. From what I understand you have to get your cat acustom the flushing noise and use a toy on the handle.

I don't Know if I should try or not

I tried to get my first cat Mitten toilet trained (in the late 70's). It worked pretty good till it was time to take the pan out. He actually jumped up on the seat and used it. However, Mitten was terrifed of any water (I think someone tried to drown him as a kitten) - so when he realized the toilet had water in it, he would NEVER go near it again.

But it did work for a short time. Never got around to trying to train any other cats I had. Good luck if you want to try.
