Ever wonder how technology that was meant to help people save time ends up making life more hectic?

Email: Suppose to help you in fast communication ends up with people demanding response the next day.
Cell: Easy on the move communications ends up with you being contacted outside of work through weekends and holidays.
Blackberry: Combination of email and cell for email on the go, such that people now demand response immediately and you find yourself bombarded with things related to work 24/7.

Email: I read my work email at work. Yes, I can get to it outside work. No, I normally don't bother.

Cell: I have a personal cell. No one at work knows the number. My choice.
Blackberry: The day they give me a Blackberry is the day I update my rÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]sumÃ[emoji]169[/emoji] and start networking like crazy.

I'm a QA engineer for an Internet company (so, pretty tech-ish), and I think technology is cool and all, but my company HIRED me to do a job; they didn't convince me to become an indentured servant, and they sure didn't purchase the rights to my life. I agree with you that the techie tether has gotten WAY outta control.

email: well i freelance merchandise and mystery shopping work so i have 5 different email accounts-- one personal, one merch work, one dedicated to one of my merch companies, one mystery shopping and one groups (i.e. yahoogroups, google groups, etc) i also have bookoo of filters set up to send certain emails to certain folders for organization.

Cell: My cell IS my work phone but i pay for it. for work purposes its only on when im working and goes off when i clock out-- my work never calls me on weekends. It will always wait. On weekends i only turn on my cell if im leaving the house.

Blackberry-- dont have one dont want one-- work has us using dell axim 5 pdas ( they suck) and its only used for work (other than holding some pics of my babies on there)

same here - i actually only read email while at work, whether personal or work related...
cell - personal - very few people know the number
blackberry - i wouldn't mine having one, but i doubt i ever will, since there's no reason for my work to contact me after work or weekends - i'm a teacher!

Email: I only read my email at work too! (work and personal are the same account) that will all change when I get a computer at home for Christmas

Cell: This is my only phone that I have, I don't have a home personal line, just my cell! I answer the phone all day at work so by time work is done with, I really don't like talking on the phone at all!

Blackberry: I don't have one, I wish I did!!

Dont worry bout e-mails I deal with them whenever I get around to it''

My Cell phone has this really neat feature called an off button. U press it and then nobody can bother you till you press the on button.

Blackberry, I will never have to be bothered with one of them as I dont work anymore...

Oh I like this one!!!

Email: supposed to be checked every minute of the day in case my boss happens to send me an email at 2am that he wants answered right away but won't buy me a blackberry.

Cell: just had voicemail removed because was getting so fed up of said boss calling and leaving a voicemail to complain that I had not yet picked up voicemail he left 5 mins previously (or the one on my home phone, or my BF's cell phone etc). Should note that this is not in business hours - we share an office then YAY
but as soon as I leave, or on weekends or during dinner!

And yes - said boss is surgically attached to his cell phone and spends the rest of the day (when not bothering staff or customers) calling our cell provider complaining because the service is never good enough for him (even though we are now on the final cell provider in the area)

One problem with cell or benefit depending on one's point of view is that my firm gives you money to buy and phone and pays for the bills. So it would be a bit over the top if they do not know the number.

I can think of a perfectly good reason for teachers to have a blackberry. The teacher would give out the email address to students who can then contact the teacher 24/7 on school work. Then perhaps introduce a bonus or evaluation system based on the speed or amount of satisfactory replies to the students.
.

I bet when telephones and fax were invented, people must have also complained.

Ah, but telephones and fax machines weren't/aren't portable. You can't become a victim of e-stalking via fax.
