Worming and puking

Its normal for a kitten to throw up after being wormed, right? Marlee got another dose of Strongid at the vet tuesday when she got the rest of her vaccinations. Last night (so about 36-48 hours after her Strongid was given) she threw up twice in a row, like immediate one after the other. It had a very acidic smell and was orangey in color. The first one was pretty big, mostly liquid, and had what looked like a very very thin white string, while the second was still mostly liquid with what looked almost like very finely ground food. Since it was the middle of the night and I had been sleeping, I didn't even think about the string thing being a worm, so I didn't look closely. It may have been a worm, could have been a little string I guess, even though I'm trying to be VERY careful about what is on the floor or where she can reach it. Right afterward she went back to playing. Nothing to be worried about, right?

She is vomiting roundworms so this is a welcome sign. Unlike tapeworms, roundworms can really wreck havoc with a kitty's system. Tapeworms are still something to treat immediatly but roundworms are a bit worse which is why the kitty is so quick to get rid of the nasty things. Keep your litter pans scrubbed and cleaned out daily until this infestation is gone. Roundworms sometimes need more than one treatment to be purged.

This is her second dose of Strongid, and come to think of it, a few weeks ago when she went for her first check up after I got her, and she got her first dose, I think she also puked then. (But I didn't know to look for worms at the time). Luckily shes still been feeling fine, and keeping mommy up at night playing!
