Does the weather affect cat's personalities. I'll admit to being a fairly new owner of two beautiful cats that I adopted and have never really experienced this...but recently my male has been running through the house like he's crazy. From one window to the next....he comes flying and runs right over me and into the window. It has started getting cooler in the last week or so and I was wondering if this is what is contributing to his wild behavior?

Thanks,
GTOgal

I think just having the window open makes them goofy

My kitties run through the house like crazy when one of them has visited the litter tray!

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Hi, Sierra, Serenity and I welcome you to TCS!
So glad you've joined us and look forward to getting to know you better!
I would be so happy to help you in any way as you learn your way around the site. Your baby sounds like such a love, and yes, I've been told by an expert that kittens and cats are prone to become more active and playful as Winter approaches!
Serenity definitely agrees, as well!

My cat's love watching Birds and Leaves. The past few days it has been quite windy and the leaves have been rushing by like a whirlwind, the cats will follow them from one window to another just to see where they go... then they tear back to the place they started and do it all over again

I would think they are like dogs in a sense............when it's cool out, they have more energy.Just think all that hair and heat. I know I prefer the cooler weather myself

Yes, thank heaven for the cool season! Here in infernal Texas, it's the best two weeks of the year. ~ sigh ~

When it gets cool enough to open the windows and let the breeze in, you're also letting in all the smells of the outdoors, and that will get your kitties excited, too. Just think -- they're smelling the new-mown grass of your yard, the outdoor kitties that roam your neighborhood, the woodsmoke from somebody's fireplace, the beagle puppy two blocks over, the pumpkin pie in your next-door-neighbor's oven, the raccoon that checked out your trash cans late last night... it's a whole new world for them!

Just be sure your screens are really, really secure. One of my folks' kitties got excited when she saw another cat and hit the screen, and it fell right out with her! (Luckily, Mom was right there and was able to just lean out the window and scoop her up. Whew.)

Last winter Luna would go CRAZY right before snow came. She'd be super hyper, playing hard, going after Patches and Beauty (but I think that was more because they were just introduced).

Anyhoo, I'm with you on the weather effect thing! Luna was fine this summer with all the storms and rain, so we'll see this winter if it was something she outgrew with age.

Mine were going crazy last night- couldn't figure out why. Then all of a sudden it started to thunder and pour rain! My little weather predictors.
