Did anyone see the series premier of "Close to Home" on CBS Tuesday night?

A precious baby, a kicka$$ DA, and prosecuting abusers....you can tell I'm hooked!

Didn't see it, Amy, but it sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. We are always going through "theres nothing to watch" syndrome.

I recorded it, but haven't watched yet, so don't tell me what happened. Looks like a great show!

Ooh Eileen and Renee, you'll love it! This week covered domestic violence... looks like next week is about teenage dating violence. This show is advocate heaven!!

This is the same sort of reason I started watching "Judging Amy". I still like it but its so unrealistic and contrived that I just enjoy it for its sap and tearjerker quotient now
So many of the social worky situations and the demographics to that show were just unbelievable and not reflective of reality.
So I still find I mutter comments to myself when shows like that go overboard.

I started to watch this "Close to Home"..but then got caught up in something...
Maybe I will give it another shot..

As a social worker, you'll really enjoy it
. The first episode, as I said, is about domestic violence in white suburbia. Someone in the episode expresses some doubt, saying something like "things like that never happen here." I'm glad a show is shedding light on the fact that abuse happens EVERYWHERE and to all types of people. I give the show and A+

So, each of the episodes deal with a different type of crisis or issue? I like those as then you don't have to really watch each one to keep up...

Yeah, its the demographic issue that is my flea in the bonnet regarding Judging Amy (even though I still adore the show) They seemed to have an extraordinary amount of unbelievable white middle class cases going through her courts.

I finally got around to watching this last night. Great show, very moving, powerful, with some humorous parts. The main character is very strong, compassionate, attorney, who's also a wife and mom. The issue of abuse was dealt with very effectively. I'd highly recommend it.
