Welcome to TCS....first, please take it to the vet. A vet will be able to examine it to see if there is anything wrong with it.

Some vets will take in kittens that people have found. Call around, explain your situation, and maybe one will offer to take the kitten.

Keeping it on the balcony isn't a good idea unless your balcony is enclosed? More than likely your kitten is undernourished, has fleas, I don't know if in your country they have ticks? But if the fleas are bad enough, the kitten could have flea-borne illness or anemia. It probably has worms as well. Please find some way to get the money for a vet visit, or surrender the kitten over to someone else who can afford vet care.

Is the kitten eating anything at all? or is it to young to eat out of a plate? What have you been feeding it, and is it drinking water?

Please just drop this kitten off at the nearest vet clinic. This little one sounds like it needs some help that you can't quite attain.

i am sorry that no one will help you with this kitten

please do wash your hands well and perhaps even change your clothes after handling it, if it has ringworm (a fungus, not a worm) you can get an itchy rash that can spread to others and will need to be treated.

are there any shelters or rescues for abandoned or stray animals, or an animal control officer? perhaps try calling the city/town office and asking them what should be done with a stray animal that you found that needs immediate medical attention

or as was mentioned, take it to a vets or animal hospital and leave it there, tell them you found it and think it is very sick (which they will see) these people love animals, i doubt they will refuse to take it in.
you do not need to give them your name, you are just someone who found a kitten in need and did the only thing you could do- brought it to someone who can help it.

good luck!!

See if you can at least clean it off with some warm water to get the dirt off, but keep it warm. They sell cat baby bottles at local pet shops and forumla, but im not sure if your kitten is young enough to take that? do you know any neighbors that can take the kitten to the vet for you, mabye they have some spare money or a place to keep it since your not supposed to have a cat in the house.

ok first .. the kitten started jumping around - slippin & fallin & it has kindf bigger paws - long legs - big ears compared to its body size - ok its tail is short - all this makes it kindf hard for me to estimate its age - its does drink milk & im not exactly sure what its doing with tiny chickn bits i keep givin it - but it does not drink any of the water i give it .. atleast it mews like a kitten ... i'll post a pic tomorrow mornin' ..

well as for the cleanin part im not really sure .. but i'll get some gloves & try to clean it up tomm ..

one more thing .. u guys shudnt get mad at me or anything .. my balcony is not enclosed & im not sure of takin' it inside the room -- with not much of an exception of me none of my folks are anywhere close to being fond of pets & are scared of any or whatever diseases(it has sortf less fur around its neck i think) it may\\maynot have.. so the reason .. & it kind'f smells ... no offence ..

now .. so far all my tries to locate someone interested to take care of it has not worked out .. the only animal care centre is not responding to my mails or msgs .. plus the vet i found thru some contact kind'f far away was giving the "there are lot of stray cats - they may\\maynot have any disease - plus their services are for a fee(cleanup & vacc. dint get the exact details - approx $82[local currency converted]) + he gave the idea it'll be best if we leave it near where i found it - as individuals dont take in stray cats in this country" -- thats a summarized version of what the guy was talking abt .. + i think all of them are put off by the idea that its just a normal kitten??

ok so i dont want to leave it out or anything but i dont know what to do with it either .. u guys keep telling me to hand-over it to someone who will take care of it .. but i just cant find anyone !!

firstly - thankyou for rescuing this little kitty. That really was a wonderful thing for you to do. I am sorry that you cant seem to find anyone that can help you. Do your parents know yet? how have the reacted?

I agree it would be good for you to find the money to get to a vet, but it sounds like the vet is very far away from you.
Yes the vet is probably right about there are alot of stray cats around, but it only takes someone like you to take one in and it all starts from there... saving one cat is better than not saving any dont you agree?

do you want to keep this cat? or not? If you do want to keep this cat, you will never know anything more wonderful than the love of a cat... but yes you probably need a vet. I wish I could give you better advise, but I cant
I want to help so much!

how long have you had this kitten? has it gone to the toliet yet?

bless you for doing what you can for this kitty - sounds to me like you have big big heart....

ok.. no-one at my place is anywhere fond of keepin it - yes they did find out with all the mewing ..

as for the big heart & all im not sure ... i just felt pity coz i did hear it mewing for a really long time & no-one had taken it ... im not sure how long it was left out in the heat ... as far as im concerned i think i dont mind keepin a cat .. its just the disease part thats naggin me ... with it needin the vaccination and all that ...

ive had the kitten for more than a day .. & yes it did consider the plastic tray i gave the milk on as its toilet .. dunno how long the heart part is going to hold with the weird situation im in ...

ok as for keepin. in the room part im not at all sure ... what do u guys think i should do abt that part ?

ps: yes i did throw away the plastic tray(i dint want to think of cleanin it) .. & found a new one ..

Well if they know you have the kitten and dont mind you keeping it thats a start in the right direction! Well the vacination is bothering you, but if you cant get it in right away then everytime you handle it put gloves on and wash your hands after, until you can get it to the vet.

For the bathroom you should buy a litterbox, even if its the cheapest there are a few under $10.00. And litter you can buy that cheap too!

For food, well how small is the kitten? If its old enough it should eat solid food, or dry cat food mixed with water so it's soft enough to eat. If it's over 6 months
then kitten dry food and kitten canned food is great and water offcourse.

As long as it is eating and using the bathroom well then its off to a good start until you can take it to the vet. but dont wait too long ,since theres a chance it can get sick when you still have no vet or medicine.

As for a room do you have a room you can keep it in, like your own? if not you can keep it in the bathroom as long as the litterbox and food dish are in there with it! Now if you have a cat or dog crate that will be fine. If you can posta pic of the kitten here please do!

If you can find a petshop near you go and buy a plastic litter box and some litter, with some liners if they have them - if not use a plastic bag to line the litter tray with - it makes it easier to keep it clean. If there is no petshop then get any kind of shallow plastic container, like a large shallow bowl, - a cup tray is too shallow and use that. Put about two inches of dry soil/sand in it and the kitty will use that. It sounds like it has the right instincts.
Other TCS members may disagree with me and I know this is not usually the right thing to do, but if you really cannot get to a vet you can also get some deworming tablets from the petshop. Bob Martins brand is probably the best if they have it. Then give them to the kitten, looking carefully at the instructions as to dosage for its size. This is not usually the right thing to do, but we have to consider your best options in this situation. Other vaccinations are not so important at this stage, I think. You should also get a flea comb from the same store, and using some hot water, comb the cat for fleas, dunking the comb in the hot water to kill any you find. Those are the things you might get from the cat right now. You can also bath the cat if it is dirty, using the gentlest shampoo you can buy - Dove or Johnson's Baby Shampoo are good, in warm water. Rub it in a warm towel afterwards.

But you must think long term. You are a sweet person for caring about this kitty, but what will you do eventually? Talk very seriously to your parents about this. If they see you being responsible about keeping the cat clean and getting it as healthy as you can, then they may be prepared to give it a chance. You are lifting it above the level of an ordinary street cat.

Good luck
