Here's a fun question:

Is there anything I can do about the fact that my two adoptees.... stink when they go to the bathroom?

Mallorn... hooowheee! He's been boarding at work since Friday and has been having quite the bout of soft... and oh so stinky stool. The vets put him on WD dry and wet and he's been getting a bit better with regards to consistency and smell...

But then there's Burdock. His stool is generally normal, but softish at the end... and man can you tell when he's visited the litter box. It's like biological warfare in the bathroom.

You guys know of anything I can do to help with this? ^_^;;

My suggestion...and not all here will agree....put them on a raw food diet.
They will use the litterbox about 75% less often and when they do, it won't smell much at all.

I assume they have been checked for parasites. My two strays smelt to high heaven and had soft stools until we started treatment for giardia.

Abby had that problem when we first got her because of worms and change in her diet from the shelter.

Burdy was tested, but I don't know if Mallorn has been. If he continues I'll see if maybe that is what is up. I'm going to hope that a diet of WD for them will help first and foremost. >.< They can enjoy regulated feedings along with my tubby Rowan.

I guess though, if nothing else, it's even more incentive to clean the litter box right away. >.<

I agree 100%, no stink when you get those carbs and cooked food out of the diet. You stink too when you can't digest your food (not just you, I mean everyone)!

When I first got Buddy, his stools stinked bad!!!
At first he wasn't covering up his stool, but even after he did, it still smelt. I switched to a covered litter box and I use a multicat litter. After a couple of weeks the smell eased up, as long as I clean the litter daily. Maybe their systems just need to get used to the new food. If not, try switching their food. I use Nutro, and Trader Joes premium food, and I don't give him any dry food unless I am out for a long time, and the poops don't stink as much

I used trader joes canned food for awhile. It's good food (for canned) but my cat's poops still stunk to high heaven on it.
