Hi Teshia,

I would say the first one will suffice. it is very similar to the ones i have used. It does appear that the second one has a little easier access for once the cat is captured and it gives you a burlap cover to calm the cat. However with ferals, you will have a hand full regardless. invest in a good pair of capture gloves. it is worth it.
We have captured raccoons, skunks, possums, and cats with the design of your first choice.
I do not believe there is any significant difference between the two as far as the welfare of the animal.. they both should be safe and humane enough for you.
Good luck!

Oh, they were definitely come in handy! =) I'm so excited to get them! I'll pick them up this Sunday. She's a good hour away so I am planning it w/ a trip to pick up a bunch of donations from people who are helping out w/ the benefit yard sale I'm putting together.

It's okay- I just wanted to make sure you weren't wondering why you didn't have replies.
