Hi all,
I haven't been on here too much lately b/c I've been busting my hump at work. Well, last week I tried to assist a client of mine with one of her requests. All it involved was me calling this counseling group to see if her husband had enrolled in a batterer's group as he was required to do through her protective order.
She is a civilian and her very abusive husband is the soldier. Well, his commander (who, just my luck, happens to be the #2 guy of the entire base) perceived what I did as being anti-soldier and my supervisor told me this morning that he wants me gone. So apparently my program managers are fighting right now to keep me in my job. I am so scared and angry. I made a call that needed to be made on behalf of my client (just doing my job as I am a victim advocate) and apparently it makes me look anti-soldier (I'm not anti-soldier, just anti-batterer).
I know this probably doesn't make a lot of sense as this is sort of a shortened version of the whole thing. Basically, though, I could really use any prayers, vibes, etc. that I don't get canned because of all of this. This guy definitely has the power to get me fired, no doubt about this. All because I was doing my job for my client! I love my job too much and I am so, so scared right now....
Thanks for listening guys.

Looks of good vibes headed your way Amy.
I hope your supervisors realize you are much to valuable to lose and let your record speak for itself.

I hope your superiors realise that you were / are doing the best job, and that what you are doing will hopefully improve the lives of the couple involved, and for your company to lose you would be losing a great asset. Good luck, and keep us informed!

Awwww Amy I'm so sorry. That's absolutely ridiculous that you have to be put through this right now. You've got plenty of :::::::::: coming from me and you know you can talk to me whenever you want.
They would be stupid to fire you! Hopefully whatever is in the air that's putting everyone's lives into turmoil will STOP really soon!!! Hang in there Amy, your bosses know what a great job you do and will fight for you no matter what.

That is just terrible!!, some people are so narrow minded. You are only doing your job and by the sounds of it a darn good job!. I'm sending you many hugs and prayers today!

Thank you again so much everyone for all of your encouragement and vibes. I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to me. It kills me that someone could lose their job because they were doing a GOOD job, but that's....a topic for IMO I guess.

Major hugs and vibes coming your way!

See if you can get an arbitration set up between yourself, the a$$ who wants your job, your supervisors and a third party. Maybe he'll accept an apology for any unintended misunderstandings.

Thats absurd. Was it acceptable for his soldier to beat his wife?

You have my vibes coming your way...between your co-worker and now this? Good luck, and keep us posted!

I agree that is absurd and ridiculous. Sending you all the best vibes, you were doing the best job you could and there is nothing wrong with that.

~*~*~*~ vibes ~*~*~*~
That's ridiculous! A person with your type of job should have more job security than that. People would have to expect that once in a while you'll get an angry husband who is connected.

Thank you so much y'all

I wish I could say more about it on here, but I'm a bit paranoid considering the branch of government this concerns. I will just say this: I am in a worse position right now (job-wise) than someone who feels it is OK to strangle his pregnant wife. Go figure

This makes no sense! Of course you are in my prayers, Amy. Your immediate supervisor must know that you were doing what is required, right? What does the army want, a vicitms advocate or a figurehead pretending to be a victim's advocate? Its crazy! The abused have enough to go through already without some good 'ole boy commander throwing his weight around to PROTECT the ABUSER! Oooo this makes me mad!

God's on your side. You are doing the RIGHTEOUS thing. Stay strong. You are desprately needed. Please keep us updated.

Ding ding ding. I've had a rude awakening as to what is really expected in my job, so now I'm sort of at a moral quandry. I thought my job was to help the victim first and foremost....apparently not so....

Oh and thank you Renee

OMG Amy!! I'm so sorry you're going through this! but honestly, if they don't like the fact that you're actually DOING your JOB, then it may be better that you don't work for them. I KNOW that's not what you want to hear, sweets, but if you're worried about whether taking care of the people they are paying you to take care of is going to get you canned, then I'd wonder if there's not a better arena you could work in?

All these troubles at your job hun! I'm so sorry!
