Bandit does this with the kitty wand toy. One night, I was so shocked and worried about the yowling, that I came downstairs to check out what the problem was. She was just running around dragging the toy behind her... I went into the computer room and saw down to check my email, and she followed me, meowing, and just dropped it at my feet. She decided she wanted me to play with her. She's the only one of my cats that does this. The other ones get out their "night energy" by running and chasing eachother through the house... sounding like a herd of horses.

Cats are weird!!!

Oh my goodness. That's such a sweet story.

Cindy does this wth her mice, luvvies and red string. She has this really sweet little meow that she does as she carries her toys in her mouth. She generally does this to announce that she is bringing her toys to us!

IMO, there is nothing cuter than the sight of your baby with a toy in their mouth coming towards you

Some of these are so funny!! My guys just carry any stuff (including my underwear-- grrrr) around, but they don't meow when they are doing it. Last night the kitten was helping me do laundry-- carrying clean underwear, shirts (now that was funny!), and socks halfway up the stairs for me.

My male Neo, always does this with mice I get at the local pet store. He won't touch any other mice but has to have these particular ones that have feathers for tales and rattle. Every night I hear him meowing from the other room as he carries the toy into the bedroom.

My other cats don't do it as much but Rogue used to steal my roommates dog toys while I was at work. I would come home and find no less than 12 stuffed animals under my desk. The funnies was watching her carry them since many of them were as big if not bigger than her. She would also do the muffled cry.

Wonton did that with his chesire cat toy, before i had to take it away from him. First of all, i collect cheshire cat stuff, and i bought it on ebay-it was meant to be a toy for ME, not for the cat! but he loved it and just had a strange attachment/fixation to it. his eyes would get huge and he'd pounce on it, take it by the neck and give it a death bite, and then pick it up and walk around the house with it in his mouth, meowing. He'd also sometimes look agitated, like he wanted to do something with it but he wasn't sure what. a few times too, he tried to, err..have his way with it. not sure what was up with that. but generally he'd just get really excited and play with it, bite it, claw at it, grow at it...if i held it and moved it slowly towards him, when it got to about four inches from his face he'd make this odd growling/barking sound, and pounce on it.

one day tho, i was playing with him with the cheshy as usual, and i got up to walk by him, and he attacked me for no reason. i made a thread about it in this forum, this was baout a month ago...it was like he got worked up by the toy and took it out on me when i walked by. i couldn't be in the same room with him for two weeks, and things are just now getting back to normal, so i've taken his chesh away from him :/ i didn't want to, but i feel like it riles him up too much, and i don't want to take the chance of being attacked again.

he carries other things in his mouth sometimes tho - his plastic balls that he plays with, and a feather toy...he doesn't meow tho. he's never reacted to any other toy the way he reacts to that cheshire cat.

Our two have lots of toys, but Nathan does this with one particular fuzzy purple mouse. At night when we go to bed we will hear him coming down the hall doing this mrooooowr thing, and then he'll get to the bedroom door and he'll stand there with it in his mouth and keep mroooowr-ing, until I say, "Good boy Nathan, you caught the mousie!" and he'll drop it and leap on the bed for scritches. I think it's just adorable.

My cat Boo does this with socks. Almost every night she will find a sock and take it in her mouth and walks around the house with it and cries this really loud wierd noisy moan. She does this in the middle of the night. Almost every morning I have to go around picking up all the socks she has left everywhere. wierd.....

This is hysterical. Our cat does this with ONE certain toy. It happens to be the first toy she ever got....it's a red sock looking thing with a bell on it that doesn't "ding" anymore cuz it's so old. I have been wondering for so long what the hecks she is doing. Granted, it's cute but I was getting a little worried. Sometimes she moves it several times in one day and other times, she doesn't touch it for days on end. Sometimes weeks. We call it (him) Bobby. "Bobby the Baby". We always say that she is "yelling at him to stay put". I had to laugh out loud in reading some of these postings...so many of them are similar and terribly funny. I'm very grateful to have found this site. I'm sure I'll be back. Thanks everyone

Bella does this with her little fur mousies. Brrrup, meeeeooow, brrruup, meeow....
she's not really talkative, but she makes all these cute little sounds carrying the mouse around in her mouth. Then she drops it and bats it around the floor.

My cat Angel does this too, we think she is trying to teach us how to hust for our own food. This is usually their instinct, they are the mother or father and we are their kittens. :lol3:
This is our cat
