Recently, I had posted this thread: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...school+project

Thanks to all of you who responded with their offer to help!

I have sent PM's to those people already concerning this.
Originally, the plan was to have the Travel Log sent around to everyone. However, the plan has changed. The teacher cannot guarantee that the student will get his or her Travel Log back.
Which, if this proves to be successful, I don't want to see happen to my son. If everyone sends stuff that says they will, this project is going to be really awesome! So, I asked if she'd mind if my son made up his own Travel Log Scrapbook to share with the class, but that he could guarantee to get back. She said that would be fine.
So, if you are interested in helping with this, PM me and I will give you MY address.
What am I asking you to send? A postcard, typically one of the "touristy" kinds that shows something pertaining to your area. On a seperate piece of paper, (if you don't mind, however you can write on the postcard, as well) a description of your area, such as the terrain (flat? mountainous?) temperatures (mostly hot? mostly cold? all 4 seasons?) Anything extra you wish to send, is your choice, such as a travel brochure of your area, factual information, like state bird, the capital of your state/province/country, recipes of foods more known in your area, etc. Also, pictures of your area would be a nice bonus!
I will need all mailings to be sent to me by this coming February, so my son will have time to assemble his Travel Log Scrapbook and share it with his class.
Thanks in advance to everyone who is willing to help out! Please, if my PM box is full, please come on here and tell me. I will then get in touch with you.

If you want to pm me with what things will be of interest, I travel up and down the UK a lot with my work and also when out with my son. Will be more than happy to pick up a postcard here and there as well as some of the brochures about the places visited - ie, I am in the Yorkshire Dales this weekend, no problems getting a few odds and sods and mailing em to him and from where ever I go, we have a paper that comes out in the dales called the visitors guide, can easily get one and mail that for you.
Also, can email photos if that helps, I take a lot of my son every week so a few different ones wont be any problem and we see loads of things, so again, if you want to print them out and use them, it will be my pleasure.
I would love to hear he gets top marks and if there is anything from this side of the pond I can do, just shout.
Oh - how old is 3rd grade? My son is 6 but have no idea how that stacks up.
Best wishes

Just want to get this back up a little higher on the list again. Mods- hope you don't mind my trying to "bump" without saying just "bump".
At the end of this week, everyone (hopefully) will have had the chance to see this and get my info that wants to help. After Friday, I will allow this post to quietly go into the thread "graveyard".

Dear Ginger,
I'm still not sure what I'm doing but I'm happy to help out.
I live in Brisbane, Australia, so if you haven't had any response from someone in this part of the world I'm happy to help. Being a teacher and a mum I know how tricky these sorts of projects can be!!
Let me know if I can help.

Thanks everyone who has signed up!! Anyone else is still welcome!!
My son asked me today if everyone is from the cat site that is helping. I told him yes. He said in that case, maybe we shouldn't call this project a "Travel Log".....we should call it a "CAT-a-log"!!!!

Also, I didn't think before, my son's name is Eddy....so if you want to address something straight to him, that would be fine. (He is a typical kid...still enjoys getting mail....unlike his parents
)
