We have an 11 week old kitten who got out the front door yesterday. Luckily I grabbed her before she went very far. I'm concerned because she came from the wild (found at work) and she may keep trying to get out. I guess we'll have to lock her in the bathroom while we're at work but I'd like to avoid that. I live in a large apartment complex and fear if she did get out she would have no idea which apartment is ours. Any ideas?

Why would you lock her in the bathroom when you aren't home?? I know alot of kittens try to get out just because that is a door they haven't yet had a chance to go through and explore. They eventually learn they aren't going to be able to get through it either but some try harder for a while before getting it! You just have to be extra careful coming and going and don't leave a window open unless you are there to supervise the kitten and make sure he can't get out the screen.

My cat is an indoor cat (5 1/2 years), but still attempts at sneaking out when we come home. He knows that its bad, but I guess the curiosity gets the best of him. Regardless, I don't think locking him in the bathroom is a good idea. Just use caution when you are going inside and be sure to be aware thet he will probably be waiting to run.

Harley always tries to get out our front door, we live in an apartment complex. One time when I was not home, it was just John and his buddies and someone came in and didn't know Harley got out. They were looking all over for him and someone opened the door to see if he had gotten out and there he was, sitting on our door mat at our front door! At least he knows where home is!

He hasn't tried to get out as much anymore since we've been taking him outside on his leash more frequently, he loves exploring in the grass, I suppose being kept in the apartment all the time gets a little boring
