coughing is back

Poopers has been on clavamox for about 11 days now for a minor URI, and around the 5th day or so there was noticeable changes, anr around the 7th or 8th day he seemed like he was basically done coughing and everything, but then it started back up about 2 days ago, his coughing started off small, and then yesterday he was going into longer ammount of time coughing, it doesnt seem to bother him like it was originally. His energy hasn't shown a decrease since starting back on his coughing. Still running arround and driving me nuts constantly. Is there a reason that the cat would go from no coughing to back to coughing in 2 days? I did not stop his treatment, still receives his dosage twice a day. But it has been a lot colder recently and a few fires not near but an 1 - 1 1/2 hours away ahve been burning pretty good, would those be more of the reason for his coughing once again, or is it probably more URI/bacterial reasons?

It sounds to me like the antibiotics may need to continue for another week. URI should clear up reltively quick with treatment but I have heard of cats having do use an extra course of antibiotics that have URI's.
Hope this may be of some help. I think you should contact your vet and ask them what their opinion may be. If the kitty goes in to the vet the vet will be able to do a chest assessment on him and should indicate whether the pills are working...maybe have to try a different type of antibiotic, and possibly a steroid.

he has a vet appontment tomorrow, i just like to get a heads up on what it might be, im new to cat illnesses since my other 2 cats have never been sick cept my one kittie when he was baby and ended up on our porch. after we nursed him back hes been 100% fine.
