I think I understand, and of course I will do my very best to cooperate.

What about stuff used in conjunction with fair use legislation, and/or correct referencing/citation? How is this viewed by TCS? I realise that just because something is legally fine, doesn't mean it's easy for a moderator to know that - so I'm not wheedling - I really just want to know where the boundaries are, because I would never have worried out using something that fell into the above catagories.

Thank you to the Bumpers! This is an important thread and I'm glad I got to see it. Maybe it should be made sticky?

Oh i think i just did this for the first time the other day, oops. Won't do it again.

I posted a page that I typed out directly from a book once and I wrote at the top what book it was from and everything though. Is that okay to do since i said who wrote it? Or no?

Understood completely!

I don't think I'm guilty of doing so but now that I know what is okay and what isn't I'll be sure to completely avoid doing the wrong thing.

The rules are explained here: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17161 Should you paste and copy an article, photo, joke, etc., you may very well find it replaced with this, or a similar notice:
That is not being done to embarrass you, but simply to draw all members' attention to copyrights. Unfortunately, an awful lot of members fail to read the stickies providing info about such matters.

Ok..... sooooo... If I copy and paste a section from a website, and provide the link to the page I got it from below the excert.... is that ok? I know I have done that at least once on here. I went the the link Jcat provided, but I am still unsure.

I just want to make sure that it's ok, or not, so I am not breaking rules!

No. We have to follow the full extent of copyright laws.
