Job/Coworker Rant!!!!!!!!!

I just want to say how much I hate my job now.

I work at an veterinary hospital and loved my job at first. But now I just have to restrain myself from quitting and walking out on the spot.

We have ***LONG*** hours. Usually from 8AM to 6PM or 7PM (with NO break might I add). I am the only one who now has to work a full schedule. This is what really started me off. Since I have worked there (a year now) I have asked for Thursdays off. (I currently have Wednesdays) We had been short-staffed for a while but now had a new girl start. So I asked if I could have Thursdays off. Guess who got it? Not me, of course.. the new girl. Who also gets to come in late at 9.

Also, I had asked for 1 day of the week to leave at 5 since everyone else got some time off but not me. For a while I was able to leave at 5 on Thursdays. Not the past month because his daughter (who also works there) had physical therapy (another rant that I won't get into lol). Now, for some reason, he has me back until close.


And his daughter is really getting on my nerves lately. She is always in a bad mood. Whether she doesn't feel good or didn't get enough sleep or WHATEVER seems to be bothering her. She doesn't seem to know how to suck it up and deal with it. She is always a *%#($& to everyone else.

This morning she comes in (late as always -- scheduled for 8 comes in at 9) complaining how she didn't get any sleep. A little later I was joking around with her and she said something to the effect of "Just stop. I didn't get any sleep and I don't want to have to deal with this. I'm in a nasty mood".

I was in a bad mood this morning too but tried to let it go and be nice to everyone and enjoy the day.

And she is like this all the time!!! Like Jekkyl and Hyde!! And, of course, nothing is said to her about anything because she is the hosp. manager's daughter.

Sorry this was so long... I just don't know what to do!!!

That really sux for you.

There are some things you just cant do a thing about and one of them is family of the boss.
It isn't fair but it happens a lot.

I hate working in a family business! The boss at my place is semi retired but bugs us all day telling us what the weather is like and asking how many phone calls we have had - even though he wants two reports a day listing the calls. One of his sons is really nice but completely stressy because he has to do everything himself and the other is sneaky and tries to get people in trouble all the time.

They hired this new girl who is now back at school and her schedule doesn't fit but they still have her come in so we have to work our hours around her because she needs time off to study etc and she messed up bad and has a horrible attitude and they say nothing - but I sent my report at 12.10 instead of 12.00 and they threatened to fire me! She takes breaks when she feels like it and just doesn't show up because she is hungover - but thats ok... my rant is over sorry for taking over your thread!

Family bussiness are the worst....

I worked at a family owned bakery a several years ago......It was a much needed second job.......

Just one day the boss tells me he doesnt need me anymore because his daughter is now looking for job.........

His daughter lived at home...I did not.....The dad paid for all the daughters stuff...I had rent........but that didnt seem to matter to him....................

oh well they went out of bussiness anyways......

as for your situation...I say start really concidering looking for a new job.....it isnt going to get any better some people are just ......

Thanks guys... I would like the job so much better if she would just leave.. or even take some meds before showing up.

It sucks because they are paying for me to go to the Atlantic City Veterinary Convention in a couple of weeks and I still need to get two of my kitties fixed (they do it for free).

For that, I think I will suck it up for a little longer but I am definitely looking elsewhere now. Hopefully a new job before the holidays.
