How many rounds of shots does kittens get? 2 or 3?

How old does kitty have to be to get rabies?

The 1st shots should be given at 8 weeks then a month later at 12 weeks. So 2 sets as a kitten . My kittens don't go out so I usually wait and get the rabies when they are older. I don't like getting the shots all at the same time just in case the kitten does have a reaction to them.

Vaccine protocol for kittens varies from Vet to Vet, but the general schedule is three shots of FVRCP, 3 to 4 weeks apart, beginning as early as 6 weeks, but no earlier. Another booster at one year of age.
Rabies Vac. isn't administered until the kittens are at least 4 months old.

What type of reaction could cats have to vaccines? Kareem had his shots when he was a kitten and hasn't had any since. He is 5 1/2 years old now and the vet is suggesting that he get vaccinated. I am afraid to do this because he reacts to any changes...new food, flea hypersensitivity etc. He is strictly indoors and has only escaped once in 2 years, and i caught him within a minute...
Any suggestions?

Here's an article about vaccination reactions and what to watch for.

Adverse Reactions to Vaccination (click here)

Vaccinations are important to help protect your cat from serious diseases - I'd suggest you make an appointment with your vet to discuss your concerns about vaccine risks vs. benefits, so he or she can make recommendations based on Kareem's history.

Serious reactions are rare, but they do sometimes happen, so it's important to be aware of the signs of a possible reaction.

Thank you for the article! It sure seems that the good outweighs the bad in regards to vaccines. I will ensure that Kareem has his vaccinations. I would never forgive myseelf if something happened to him that could have been prevented with a simple vaccination.
Thanks alot!
