I really would appreciate any advice about my cat. He is about 9 years old and a beautiful persian. But over the last 6 months, he has developed scabs all over him. They really bother him and it's affecting his health and his fur is thinning out. He runs around the house as if he is trying to out run the itch. The scabs are primarily up and down his spine and large clumps that are around his neck. He will allow you to lightly scratch his spine but if you scratch too long or too hard, he'll run away or bite you. He loves to be scratched under his chin and around his neck where there are large scab clumps. I tried this anti-fungal spray that I bought at Wal-mart and it seems to help a little. I have 2 other cats and one of the other cats has some scabs too but not as many as my persian Backy. I bought some ring worm medicine yesterday and am going to try it. We'll see how it works, but if anyone has any suggestions or has or had the same problem with their cat, I would love any help. I'm very worried about him and I hate it that he's so uncomfortable. Thank you all. Peanuts66

Please take him to the vets without using the ringworm powder. he needs to have a vet look at this, and over the counter products could do more harm than good. you will need to tell the vet what products you have used on him. Good luck.

Please do not use over-the-counter medications on your cat, especially if you don't know what is wrong with him/her. Please take your cat to the vet as soon as you can. You may do more harm than good if you put anything on when you aren't sure what you are treating.
