I am not sure of my cat's age. I know she is arond 5 months old. She started crying at the door about a month ago so my fiance let her out just to shut her up (but back then we thought she was a male so we didn't think of the idea that she could get pregnant). Ever since she has been going in and out as she pleases. She is not spayed. Only because we are SO broke right now that we can't afford to. Anyay, she has been acting real strange recently. She went from eating a can of food a day to 3 cans a day within a 2-3 week time span. I dont know if it is my imagination but her belly seems to be getting a bit rounder. Her nipples don't seem to be getting darker or anything but they are protruding a bit, or sticking out more. She is also real mellow now compared to before when all she wanted to do is play rough. I don't have any money right now, it all goes to my 15 month old daughter, or else I would take her to the vet. Does anyone have any advice or experience they can share?

First, I would STOP letting her inside and outside....that is just asking for her to become pregnant if she isn't right now (keep her inside). As far as having her spayed..there are many low cost and no cost clinics that you can contact, please refer to the link below:

Again, from what you have provided, it is impossible to tell whether she is or isn't pregnant. She could simply be eating more or she could have a case of worms or she coud be pregnant. If you don't have funds to have her spayed...then you won't have the funds if she is indeed pregnant but has problems with delivering her kittens OR if one or more of her kittens becomes sick. I truly urge you to contact the clinics listed and ask if they will put you on a payment plan so that your cat can be spayed.

You won't be able to tell unless she's more than halfway into a pregancy anyways. Heck one vet I saw for Kiera couldn't confirm whether or not she was pregnant and exactly 1 month later she had 5 kittens - so even an expert can't always tell.

I understand money being tight. Check out the low cost clinics TNR suggests above. If she is pregnant, it's still not too late to have her spayed.

Until that time, keep her indoors !
