New mom showing aggression

I recently bred my himalayan for the first time. It was stressful for her as we had a record hot summer and she only had one kitten and had to have a c-section. The kitten is ready to leave now but momma is really aggressive towards any guests we have. Is this part of the whole process (hormones etc.) or have I done something wrong. Has anyone had this problem and if so any suggestions.
