Hi, Sam is a stray that came into our life at the beginning of last month. At the time he had a big rash and was missing a lot of fur, but we attributed it to nerves as he licked himself a ton when he got nervous. We got "Veterinarian's Best Flake & Itch Relief Foam", used it twice a day on him and it seemed to make him itch less and the fur grew back.

A couple of weeks ago we thought that maybe be had a queen as Sam gained a lot of weight and his nipples were red. We took him in and found out that he is a neutered male. Since it was a clinic and not a vet, and we were so happy to hear that he was not a Queen, we really did not get much vet help other than the 3-in-1 distemper shot that they recommended.

Now two weeks later, he still has the red nipples and now more of a red rash. He also started licking his back again. It is not as sore as when he first arrived, we are concerned that it is something big. We are saving money to take him to the vet next month but - 1 - he hates the car thing and it freaks him out and - 2 - we really do not have the extra money so unless it is an emergency we would like to wait a month or so.

Here are photos so any advise on what it could be would be appreciated. We were told he is a little older than a year and a half, is a neutered male and we know he was a stray for at least 7 months as that has been how long we fed him outside. (he "moved in" at the start of Sept.)

Thanks in advance.

I honestly do not know what to recommend..but have you thought about calling an emergency clinic and describing the symptoms to them to see if they have any ideas. Sometimes they can give you ideas without having to bring the cat in.

Jeez his skin looks terrible, luckily your treating it.
Could it be he is allergic to food or has tapeworm? Could he also have feline acne, making the nipples fill with puss? My neutered male cat had that.
