The best solution I`ve found so far is to scoop them into a coffee can and store in the garage till it`s full and we take it away with the trash. I have several people saving their empty coffee cans for me.
Does anyone else have a better solution?

use a diaper pail and empty out the bags daily. Leaving them there for any length of time invites a bug investation (maggots) and other nasty things, let alone the smell- Diaper pails work the best-

Same as above - they go in a plastic bag and are gone the same day. And litter boxes cleaned. It is too unhealthy to have that stuff even remotely close, even in winter! Ugh!

i put them in a dble plastic shopping bag, and then inside that plastic box that the litter came in
even then sometimes the odor permeates the plastic and i can smell it, ewww!
if i did not live on the third floor i would take it out each time i scoop.

the poops you can have in the toilette. But the used litter sand/clay whatever you must of course dispose in other way - never in the toilette. I do it with the other trash and household wastes. Is fetched once a week.

I scoop into the plastic grocery store bags and tie them off, then they get put in a small sealed garbage can by the door... never really notice a smell that way and then I dont have to treck out to the dumpster every time I scoop... I just take the bag out of the garbage can on trash day...

We use World's Best CL and are on a sewer (I wish we weren't, the cost is outrageous
!) so we flush. When we used clumping clay we would double bag it with grocery bags and just put it in the trash outside (we have twice weekly pickup.) Back when we lived in the country we would put it back into the kitty letter pail and either take it to the dump or I'd dig a couple of deep postholes within walking distance but away from the house (mobile home actually) and dump it down those with a bit of soil and let the microbes take care of it. Like an outhouse pit
.

I use a special kitty-poo bin, a metallic foot pedal one like people sometimes have in bathrooms. I line the bucket inside with these bio-liners and I take it down to the dumpsters outside every couple of days.

My boyfriend has a diaper-jeannie like contraption, except its specifically for cats. I don't have the money to put out for one at the moment, but I sort-of do it myself. I have a roll of scented 12 gallon trash bags kept by the litter box. Each time she goes (or when I get home) I will scoop into the bag, and knot it off right above. That way each bag lasts all day usually, and it cuts down on the smell. Then I'll take it out the end of the day, or into a big garbage bag by the back door til the next day if its rainy.

Me, too. I tried putting them in the box the litter comes in, but when you open it back up - pew! And it just keeps getting worse and worse!

When I am ready to replace the litter, I dump it outside in our horse pasture. I bet someone could make a home business of picking up stinky litter from all the cat lovers in town...
