Hi there,

One of my little girls, Juniper (6 mos) has been limping the last day or so, so I've called the vet and we have an appointment till tomorrow morning. I have her in seclusion from her sister so they don't run around and Juniper doesn't hurt herself further.

She's in a bathroom by herself with water, food, litter, bed. But now she's meowing constantly, as I expected she would, and it sounds so pitiful! What can I do to help her calm down (short of spending all night in the bathroom with her)? Her sister, Mage, is also agitated by hearing her sister on the other side of the door... The poor things!!

Thanks! I'd like her to be as comfortable as possible!

Sorry no advice for you but hope she checks out OK at the vet.

I probably would spend my time in the bathroom with her, but I'm such a softie that they walk all over me anyway.

If you have a baby gate open the door and put the babygate up vertically in the doorway so she can see and smell the rest of the household. Or put the other cat in with her for company if they get along

I would put the other cat in there, but they like to play, so part of the reason for the seclusion is so that they don't play and tussle and tackle each other, thus hurting Juniper more.

Awwwwww bless her little heart
I would do what Hissy said though with the babygate because she'll be missing them which is why she's crying, because thats what my two do if their seperate from each other

If you havent got a gate can she not stay with you in the livingroom where you can keep an eye on them?!

No gate... they're so playful! I just want to keep June quiet for a while. Maybe since I'm taking her in tomorrow, it'd be OK to have her out, I just hate to see her running around and playing when she's limping.

Maybe put the other cat in the bathroom instead of the hurt one. She is already feeling bad and doesn't understand why she is in pain. She would be less stressed out being in an area she is use to. The other cat can come out for periods of time for exercise and visiting but then go back in the bathroom. Just supervise them together, if they start getting rowdy, break them up. Hope your baby gets well fast.

I personally would let her out *if* she is not on pain medication. She will avoid putting pressure on the injured leg by instinct.

However, if she is on pain medication then she must be kept quiet by "artificial" means (e.g. seclusion), because pain medication will make her think she is not injured and cause her to potentially aggravate the injury.
