I was doing a little reading of some old posts on the topic, cause Marlee has been having a little problem. I read that its not really considered constipation unless it is hard, dry stools. Marlee's poop is what I would consider regular consistancy (not too hard or soft, looks regular in color) but she just seems to have trouble getting it out. She will go get in the litter box and you can see her little muscles moving, and she will get it going, but then its like shes not patient enough or something, she turns to look and sees none on the litter and just gets out. She will have a piece of poop beginning to come out, up to an inch or so, still on her bottom. It will eventually fall off, or if I am home or course I will get a tissue and get it myself. I talked to the vet and he said it is from the Albon she was on and it will go away. But does this sound like constipation to you, or is she just too impatient?

Also, has anyone had an bad effects from using the pumpkin? I'm thinking of trying that, since I've read so much about it on here.

I'm sorry to say this but I was laughing out loud when I was reading your post! Very funny....

Anyway, I've never used pumpkin but have read all over the place that it is ok to use. I even have a can at home in case I need one. I got purreed pumpkin with no sugar added. Just look at the ingredient list to see that it is pumpkin and water and thats it.

Pumpkin works very well (just make sure it is 100% and not pie filling) I also use Laxatone for constipation or any sort of hairball remedy helps get things moving.

I have had a couple kittens come across my path that have been impatient though. They would dig and dig and make a nice hole to go in then start to go and then start turning around and digging some more and just really seemed to be very particular in the spot they were trying to go in!!

Hehe, when I reread the post it did sound a little wierd! I will definately go get some pumpkin to try then. I noticed just this morning, after she went, that there was a little bit of what looked like....I don't know how to describe it...clear liquid coming out of her bottom. When I patted it with a tissue, it almost has a green/yellow tint. So strange! I'm gonna call the vet again today, make sure I don't need to take her in...

Yesterday I went to get pumpkin....couldn't find it at Wal-Mart!! So I got some mashed green bean baby food, heard that can help too. So I'm trying that for now, even though she's not liking it too much. I'm gonna go to a different store today and see if I can find pumpkin.
