Kitty has leukemia, so we are not surpised that she has medical problelms, but the past few days she has been going elsewhere apart from in the litter-box. She relieves herself on rugs in the bathroom or kitchen, or in a bedroom. Can she just not hold it long enough to make it downstairs to the box, or is it medical-related? Does anyone know?
I have another kitten and he only goes in the litter-box, so I don't think it's a problem of having the box too far away.

I live in Las Vegas, Nv where my husband is in the
Poor thing! It is probably medically related and you would need to talk to your vet about they whys? It could also be that your kitty is just not feeling well and he wants you to know and for a lot of kittys "acting out" is just their way of getting our attention. I had a problem when I introduced Bob into the house (he does not have medical problems though) too. Both Pat and Bob had their own box, but for some reason Bob just didnt want to use his. I finally found a kitty litter at petsmart called "cat attract". It says it is for training and behavioral problems and that it is guaranteed (It is made by the company that makes Feliway). It worked instantly!! So you may give this a try just to see if it works. It is a little more expensive, but saved me money when I stopped having to throw away clothes, blankets and towels!! I hope you figure this out and I hope your baby starts feeling a little better!

Thank you for your replies. My mom took her to the vet today and it turns out it is because of medical problems. She had another disease in addition to Leukemia, which we didn't know, and we learned that it was terminal; she would only have had a few days left, if that - and this is what was affecting her liver; also, she couldn't make it to the litter-box because the disease had really weakened her the past few days; the vet put her down this afternoon.
It's so sad, but we knew she had Leukemia a few days after we rescued her from the pound, so it isn't a surpise, but it is still sudden. We gave her the happiest three months of her life that she could have had; and she brought us much happiness, too.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
It's wonderful that you took good care of her & made her happy for the time she was with you. Now that her time has come to be at peace, she can rest & play over the Rainbow Bridge

Bless you for taking her in and caring for her.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Her pain has ended and yours has begun. You showed her the ultimate kindness in allowing her to pass peacefully.

I'll move this to the Rainbow Bridge forum out of respect for your kitty and your grief.

Well, that is very sad, to have a kitty for only 3 months! You are right, though, in saying that even that short time is enough to make a difference, and bring happiness to you and Kitty. I'm sorry you didn't have more time with her. She was lucky to be adopted by such a loving family.

Condolences on your loss! Rest in peace, Kitty, healthy and well, over the Rainbow Bridge!
