Everybody's being dropped off at the vet first thing in the morning. Thisbe and Cushie need their annual shots, and Thisbe's getting shaved because she's got some mats that won't come out. I bought a slicker brush and after this I'm determined that she's getting groomed EVERY DAY no matter how she fights it. (Since I got the other two cats, she doesn't always like to be cuddled and handled like before -- she's on guard more).

Marnie, the new kitty I just adopted/rescued/stole, depending on your viewpoint ... lol ... is getting spayed. Crazily enough, what bothers me most about the surgery is having to not feed her from 10 PM tonight on. Poor baby ... she cries for her breakfast so desperately!
Aren't I a wuss? lol

Thisbe and Marnie aren't microchipped, so I'm getting that as well.

Cushie, the lucky duck, is only getting shots and won't need anything else!
I am leaving all three of them all there all day while I'm at work, though, because I didn't want anybody to attack anybody else for "smelling like the vet!" lol

I figure tomorrow night, I'll be spending time by the side of my recovering baby, Marnie, and we'll all just have a quiet weekend together as she recuperates. I bought a new kitty bed this morning -- all soft and cuddly -- and big enough for two to share, if they were inclined to. *longing sigh* LOL

Can anyone tell me what to expect after the spaying? Should I keep the other cats away from her? I know she'll sleep most of tonight and into tomorrow, but is there anything I should be looking for?

God, it's lucky I never had kids. I'd be in a rubber room somewhere. LMAO

It's been forever since I had my girl spayed...but I recall I wanted to watch to make sure she didn't undo her stitches by either pulling on them, licking at them or playing too rough.

I dropped all three of them off an hour ago. *sob* lol

Cushie didn't much care for being bundled into her carrier, but she was the only one who was quiet on the car ride over. Thisbe yowled heartbreakingly, and Marnie joined in on the harmony line. LOL

They all quieted down when we got into the vet's office, probably because this HUGE dog -- half Dane, half ox or something -- ambled agreeably past the carriers as I checked them in and signed the consent forms, and it just shut their little yaps.

Marnie's surgery is supposed to happen sometime between 11 AM and 2 PM. The vet's going to call me when she's done and let me know how it went. Poor baby! Her mommy is certainly thinking of her today.

I am just waiting for the quitting whistle. LOL

Vibiana...my girl cries the moment she is in the carrier...it is gut wrenching and no soft music or any other trick works to get her to stop. At the vet's office, she becomes quiet but her brother becomes VERY aggitated....he is a 5 out of 10 as far as "bad vet patients" go (wouldn't want to know what a 10 is) as it takes at least 4 people to hold him down for shots. I can completely empathyze with you right now but your girl will be sooo much better off being spayed. No horrible heats.

Marnie came through her surgery with flying colors, and I learned that not only did she have FIVE kittens in her, she also had tapeworm! Grrrrrrr. I wanted to drive back out to where I got her and strangle the "owner" who tried to claim her from me two weeks ago. I had to get all three of them treated for tapeworm, just to be safe, and the total vet bill came to over five hundred dollars. LOL Ouch! But I'm glad they're all safe.

Poor Marnie. The vet told me to just leave her in her carrier Friday night, but she seemed to want out, so I took her onto my lap and she slept on my tummy for a few hours while I watched a movie. Then she woke up and tried to eat, but spit it all back up, poor little sweetie. She crawled into one of my closets -- she likes to hide under my dresses, the rod is low enough that they hang almost to the floor -- and that's where she spent most of Friday night. I'm afraid I slept very little myself.

Saturday morning she started eating again and she's more or less back to normal there, although somebody -- not sure if it was her or Thisbe -- threw up on the kitchen floor this morning. Thisbe is a Manx with a double coat, and she throws up once in a while, so it could have been her, but I wonder if it wasn't Marnie. She doesn't need to eat so much now that she's not feeding five kits and a tapeworm. LOL She'll figure it out I guess.

Cushie, who only needed shots, did just fine. She's her talkative self since she came home and is being very solicitous toward her baby sister Marnie.

Thisbe still hates the other cats but she looks a lot better with no mats. LOL Would you believe they didn't have to shave her? That groomer must be Gandhi. LMAO She actually was able to comb out all the mats. I bought a brand new slicker brush and my girl is going to stay beautiful now.

I turned the A/C up higher before I left for work, so the apartment will be nice and cool in case that might have made someone sick enough to throw up. I'm really grateful they got sick in the kitchen -- linoleum is sure easier to clean cat gack off of than carpet. LOL

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the good thoughts. My baby is on the mend and she's really mine now, bless her heart. I don't care what anybody says now -- I'd euthanize her before I'd let anyone take her away.
