Yesterday was Harley's 2nd checkup at the vet, and he got his 2nd round of shots, and his leukemia shot too. He has gained 3lbs since he was there the first time!
But when we got home from the vet, I left him at home with food and water and put him on my bed and I went to work out at the YMCA for awhile. I came home and he was still on the bed sleeping (an hour or so later) so I just thought ok, he's a little tired from his vet trip. So when I was sitting down later watching TV he was crying and crying, and he wouldn't let anyone pick him up, which is VERY strange for him. Then he crawled up on my lap, and fell asleep with me on my chest for a good 3 hours, and he didn't even stirr or wake up when my BF came home, or when the phone rang or anything. Usually when something makes noise when he is sleeping, he is up immediately. So I thought it was really strange he was actually sleeping thru all of this. When he woke up (I woke up him cuz I had to move) but he stood up and layed right back down and fell asleep...again. And then for the rest of the night he slept with us. So then this morning I left him to go to work, and he was on our bed again, and when I got home at noon, he was still there, sleeping, in the same spot on my bed as I left him 4 hours earlier. I checked his food, water and litter box, and none had been touched. This just doesn't seem like his normal rowdy self. He's not playful or anything! After his first checkup he was not like this at all, it didn't even phase him like it is now.

Should I be worried, or do anyone else's kitties act differently when coming home from the vet? The vet said that he was healthy and everything....maybe I am just overreacting but he just isn't his same self since yesterday!

It's probably a reaction to the mix of shots but if I were you I would call the vet and ask his advice.

Most of my kitties were dead to the world after shots, they were fine by the next morning though.

If it's been 24 hours and he's still 'off' I'd definitely speak to the vet, or get him seen.

Oliver had a bad reaction to the FeLeuk shot---he was vomiting and having diarrhea and was not a happy camper--sounds like maybe Harley's just having a slight reaction to it, which is not uncommon--I would call the vets though and see what they say.

Aw, poor baby. Prayers for little BabyHarley. If he's still lethargic, please call your vet right away!

Oh I will, I feel so bad for him, and I feel bad, like I did something wrong by not calling the vet right away!

I just keep hoping that he will bounce back sooner rather than later....whenever I pick him up he cries cuz its sore where he got his shot

Your vet should have warned you that shots can make your kitten lethargic. Mine told me so after giving my baby boy his first round of vax, and true enough he was pretty subdued for the whole of that day and the next day too. I'm sure Harley will be zipping around your house in no time. Still, better call the vet to make sure. Don't feel too bad, it's quite a normal reaction after shots I suppose.

I hope he's OK

If the vet says it was a reaction, be sure to remind them next time he goes for a booster shot - they can separate the vaccines (give them 2 weeks apart) to minimize the risk of a reaction in the future, and they can also pre-medicate him before he gets his shot.

I got home last night and he was still pretty tired and out of it, so he cuddled with me for awhile and then I got down on the floor with him and started playing with him and in no time he was terrorizing me and my BF!
I was never so happy to see him getting into everything! Sure enuf, he was bouncing off the walls this morning even....all is okay here!

Thanks for everyone's help, I felt so dumb, I didn't know that there could be a reaction like that to the shots, sure with the vet woulda told me!

Thanks again!!

Next time you see the vet, don't forget to let him know what happened so they can take precautions for his next vaccines.

YAY Harley's regained his madness! Your vet should really have taken the time to tell you, could have saved a lot of worry. Anyhow, it's really good to hear that he's bouncing off walls
