anybody doing anything special?

I'm always at a loss for something orginal. The SO could care less about chocolate, flowers or balloons. But I want to do something. I would make dinner, but I always do, so that's not a special occasion! I spoil him so much anyway it's hard to find something totally special to do.

The hubby & I don't really do anything special. We try to make each day special & don't like the commercialism of Valentine's day. We usually eat out one day a wk anyway. At most we'll buy each other a card.

So we play it pretty low-key. We were going to go away on a short trip for our 16th wedding anniversary, but now we have postphoned that idea and will just stay here and keep plugging away. The kids all called yesterday to check on us and make sure we hadn't blown away in the wind..........

Though I did see the cutest thing when I dropped off my film earlier. A set of 3 fluffy stuffie cats that were scented with blueberry, vanilla and orange. I wanted to buy them so bad, they were so cute, and not made of anything other than material and fluff. They are calling them Scentable Kitties!

We are sort of "over" Valentine's day. I know this sounds "bah humbuggy", but after being married for so many years, its just another day.

Hubby usually will bring home something small, like flowers or something. And he always buys something for our daughter, she loves the attention!! My 5 year old has a valentine party at school, which he is looking forward to. And me, well I will make my hubby's fave supper ( seafood ) and we will probably watch a movie w/ the kids.

I personally love the spirit of Vday, I love all the hearts/lace/ pretty stuff, so I have fun decorating the house with all of it!!
I bought a really pretty piece for my front door, and we made some heart stuff crafts for the porch. I love "LOVE"!!!!!!!!!!

Hubby and I don't do much for valentine's day either. It's too hard to get a sitter, and the lines at the restaurants are too long. But the kids and I will make him some cards and we'll give the kids some valentine's chocolate. I told Hubby, NO chocolate for me this year!

This is my husband's and my third V-day together since we met. We usually got out to a fancy restuarant and have a nice dinner. This year we are going to a resturaunt called Magnums-its a fancy steak house. I can't wait!

My hubby will probably send flowers to me at work, and I always take him out to eat....pretty much routine, but then again, I can't think of anything else.

Let's see, Valentine's is the 14th, we don't get paid until the 15th, our anniversary is the 18th. So, honestly, we'll go out over the weekend and do both in one shot.

We talked about going to a hockey game (I lurve live hockey tho' I don't much watch it on tv) but truth is, I spend most of my time in jeans and such. I want to go out somewhere nice and dress up a little. Plus himself looked so nice in his suit taking our daughter to that dance the other night . . . Sometimes I just want to feel spoiled and special and like someone made an effort for me.

We will probably go out for steak because I've had a major craving for beef for over a month now. Though, seafood would be good too . . . If only I can talk him into a gift of some kind too . . .

But specifically for Valentine's, probably just a card this year.

Sunlion - I know of a couple really good steak places downtown Fort Worth. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll post them. Hubby took us to Texana on Saturday, and that was really good. Plus there's a coupon in the value pac for it.

Dawn -

We are thinking probably Pappas' steak house in Dallas - it's over near the San Francisco steak house and the extreme rides place and the drive-your-own race car track there, I can't remember what highway that is. We tried to go there when it first opened for our anniversary (maybe 2 years ago) and it turned out they were having a dry run. You know, they get the staff from their other places to come in and pretend to be customers so the new people can work out the bugs. They were going to turn us away, but we said it was our anniversary and the manager grinned and waved us in. We had a fabulous dinner for free, right down to a desert with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the plate. So we'd like to try them again.

However, I'm always open to suggestions!

Oh, Pappas does sound yummy! I haven't been there yet, but all the Pappas restaurants are so good. And you already know the service is good!

OK, all this talk of food is making me hungry! I wish hubby would hurry up and get home so we can eat!

Ok..since you asked...my husband and I dont usually do the Valentine's Day thing, but this time he has planned an extraordinary gift for me. On Thurs. day eve, we are taking the Valentine's Day river cruise including a prime rib/buffet meal, a bottle of wine, flowers, a bear...ahhhh! Plus Ive never been on a cruise before. In addition, he has scheduled some spa time for me- swedish massage, sea wrap, manicure...and hopefully a trip to see our family over the weekend... I am so excited!!!!!

Well I talked to the boyfriend, and apparently we're going to go out to dinner as well. We used to go out all the time but we cut back because I was doing more cooking at home. It's cheaper and it's therapeutic for me, so I've been doing it alot.

Not sure where we're going yet. It's my choice and I haven't made up my mind. I guess it'll depend on what I feel like.

Tomorrow on my lunch I've got to run out and get him a card.

i have a hiding place

hmmm... what i love about Valentines is the chance to be not only creative, but, i get to express my love
and be incredibly mushy & cheesy ALL DAY!

i'm going to make a collage of photographs of Cameron & me for Cameron and paint the frame in different reds, and i have precious little cards for my family with heart candies & hershey kisses tied
in pink & red bows...

we're going to go for dinner at this beautiful Greek restauraunt and rent a movie afterward... maybe, Hearts in Atlantis, has anyone seen this ?

it's such a feel-good day, you dont need a significant other either, just people you love...

i'm really just a romantic at heart.

Wow, I'm jealous! Sounds like you're going to have a great time.

Blue - I love your idea of a picture collage. That may be an idea that I "borrow" if you don't mind. Of course, it may be hard to find current pictures of us; since we've had kids, we don't end up in the pictures very often. But I think I'll try. Any more creative ideas out there?

Unfortunately I don't have much money to do anything extra special for my hubby. I'll get him a card and I'm going to get him The Fast and The Furious on dvd - he's been dying to get it. We might go out to eat I'm not sure. For me he is paying for me to get my hair done. I have really long hair (no particular cut or style to it what so ever) and I have been wanting to go to one of those salons that can tell you what your hair will and will not do and can tell you what will look good as far as your face frame and all that is concerned. I go for my consultation tomorrow night and then after it's decided what will be done I will make an appointment for the weekend. I can't wait!
