I too have found some nice things at Target lately. I got a really cute bright blue sweater-shrug for $14, and two pairs of suede shoes: one pair of brown suede flats, and a pair of black suede boots, each of em were $20 and they're REAL SUEDE!!!

Last night my hubby and I went to Target to buy some board games and I also got a new pair of PJs that were like $14, and here they are!

They've got garden gnomes on them! I lurrrrve them!

We have two thrift store locally. I make it a point to check them once a week. I have found some really good deals there. Some of the things are new with tags.

I see no reason to pay big money for trendy pieces that are here today and make you say "what was I thinking?" tomorrow. For those I hit places like Ross or thrift stores. Especially with thrift stores, I don't have to worry about others wearing the same outfit I am when I go out! I also like designer boutique consignment stores.

For basic pieces that I know will last through many years, I'll go ahead and spend more for higher quality fabrics and better stitching.

My fave purchase to date: I bought a formal dress that was a dress sample from a Bridal store on Eay for $35. Even with S&H all the way to HI, the price was only $50. It fits almost perfectly--here on the islands there is limited selection of formalwear since everyone spends most of their time in t-shirt/shorts/slippahs (flip-flops), but I wanted to have something for those few times I had to go to a black-tie ball (once a year). After searching fruitlessly in the stores for a post-Prom season markdown (everything was pastel and made for people that obviously had something to hold the dress up in front, lol), I turned to Ebay. They had a beautiful bright red formal dress with matching cover stole that makes me look like the "sophisticated young professional 20-something" I'd like to think I am, instead of a 16-yr-old attending my first school dance. It fits my flat chest, much to my relief, and I'd like to think it befits my place in life these days (I get tired of being mistaken for a teen, even though I KNOW that later in life I will hopefully appreciate being taken for being much younger than I am.).

Yay for bargains!

Three blocks, from my house, is a local shop called Susie's Deals. Everything in the store is $5 or less. I've gotten some cute tops and they have cute kids' clothes, too. I was disappointed that the leopard-print flannel PJs only came in size "small", though
I REALLY wanted a pair of those.

In the same plaza are Big Lots and Dollar Tree. Dollar Tree is good for gift wrap, holiday decorations and spices. I buy kitchen gadgets, disposable razors, bleach, Bandaids, paper napkins and toothpaste, at the 99-cent stores. Recently, I got lavender linen napkins there, too. I also buy hair decorations, for the twins. Those make great stocking stuffers.

How's this for a total of $97.60: Three pairs of black "dressy" jeans, 6 sweaters (all Wrangler), one short-sleeved top, five pairs of bikini undies, two nightshirts, and a camisole? All bought within 1 1/2 hours at the VF Outlet? That's my favorite place to shop. http://www.vffo.com/

I love deals as well. Growing up (family with 7 children) my mom shopped at garage sales and thrift stores. About 5 years ago I shopped at Carsons, Marshall Fields and Norstrom. I can't believe the prices I paid for stuff, and where is it now..........worn, borrowed and never returned, or donated. The past few years I have shopped in resale shops and garage sales and have found new or great condition items. I also buy and resale stuff on ebay (mainly partylite, and brand name baby/kids clothes). In July I went to a garage sale and found "Partylites mosaic tealight lamp" and "Mosaic large bowl" the lady had 2 dollars on each. I bought both of them and sold them on ebay (separate auctions) the lamp went for $62.25 and the bowl went for $43.50. It is great finding good deals!! The only time I pay full price is if it is last minute and I can't find what I want elsewhere or I need shoes, or underclothes.

Woo-Hoo!
Congrats all of you bargain shoppers! I rarely pay full price myself. I shop at Bealls Outlet, Ross, Wal-Mart, and consignment and thrift stores. I only shop at the mall for Christmas gifts.

Theres a Kohls opening up nearby. What is is like?

IMO Kohls is a great store. I love shopping in their bedding/bath/home decor section. I also love to shop there after Thanksgiving and Christmas you get lots of great deals on perfume, holiday items, jewelry, clothes etc. They also have lots of clearance racks after each season. I get great deals on jeans, shirts and sweaters for my daughter (L.E.I, and Mudd brands).

They have solid cherry HUGE entertainment centers for 50 bucks right now. a couple have some exterior blemishes but nothing you cant fix or cover up. Just depends on how much time and effort you want to spend. They alse get electronics and stuff from stores that are closing. You can pick up some awesome deals there if you are diligent and dont mind getting dirty looking through stuff. Its one of my favorite stores. Their inventory changes almost daily.

I'm sold on thrift stores!
Though I shop at malls and other stores, thriftshops rule! I have gorgeous real crystal wine glasses, beautiful clothing that people think I spent a fortune for, all kinds of wonderful books, purses, etc. It's like treasure hunting, you never know what kind of treasure you're going to find!

I buy new stuff, for the twins, so that I can get the same outfit, in different colors (I have to have SOME way of telling them apart). Found a new place, called Children's Outlet. Top price is $9.99 and the clothes are really cute. They have sizes up to 14.

Well I enjoy TJ Maxx & Tuesday Morning!! Most of my co-workers don't shop there-they say-too much work pawing through stuff. I usually know what brands I'm looking for so its easier. BUT I still spend too much at those places!!
DSW is the BEST for shoes. I always check the clearance stuff 1st-I got a pair of Cole-Haan shoes for $20.00 I've worn them to death however!!
A month ago my sis & I shopped at TJMaxx and I picked up a ceramic retangular sunflower tray it was marked $2.99??? I think something goofed!!
I buy books at Goodwill and check out the vases, crafts too.
And "antique" stores-you just never know what you will find. There is a certain type of pottery I have a few pieces and I stopped at a rummage sale and they had a small planter that I bought for $1. Kane County Flea Market in IL is really good too!!

Found a pair of satin dress pumps with a peep-toe--and actual cushioning on the inside--on sale for $69, not bad

Found a cute cropped silk cardigan with a hook and eye closure, dressy but simple enough that I'll wear it again--again, $69, not too bad since it's 80% silk

But, the piece de resistance:
Found a satin dressy clutch with a cute kisslock clasp at Lord and Taylor...opened it up to look at the price tag--$115! No way!

Went down the mall to the Aldo accessory boutique, found a virtually identical purse-- $19.99!!!!

Even my husband was proud of me!

Then, we had dinner at PF Changs for 20 bucks! I am ON FIRE today!!!

Just had to share!

PF Chang's....:
: Ian and I go there all the time...love it!

So, where did you do all of this bargain shopping? It sounds like I need to hop on the CTA and shop where you did!

I'd say my best bargain shopping is completely refurnishing (this includes decorations and dishes and things to that effect) my ENTIRE apartment for just under a grand. I have a 500 sq. foot 2 room place and so...it was a feat!
