My kitten has had cat ance since we got her from the cattery. When we took her to the vet a year ago they said just to take away plastic bowls. We did that but it is still there and now itching her. I looked up the cause and cure which is going to the vet which I am trying to avoid. Does anyone have any at home cures?

Our vet had us scrubbing chins 2-3 times daily with Phisoderm.
Works quite well.

I've used Hibiclens, also with excellent results. Once you get rid of the acne, washing the chin periodically will keep it from coming back.

In the case of feline acne, I think that's a reasonable and prudent approach. Feline acne isn't an immediate threat to the cat's health and life. Serious cases do require medication. But minor cases are easily cleared up with the home treatments recommended. So I think it's OK to try treating at home first, and then go to the vet if it doesn't clear up.

I agree with you if you can avoid a heafty check from the vet in the case of something minor I think you should. PLese don't get me wrong though if my cats or any of my pets were in danger I would and will seek professional help.
